Hope that in the future, all is well, everyone eats free, no one must work, all just sit around feeling love for one another. George Saunders
Believe it or not, the above statement is printed on the bag issued by the Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants.
Saunders, a fiction writer who teaches at Syracuse University, has been converted to Buddhism and has adopted an anti-consumer, anti-corporate-culture and anti-capitalist philosophy.
Its a sad commentary when a major consumer corporation buys into his hippie-style philosophy and encourages people to live off of others and to adopt the welfare, no-workfare mentality.
Food, like any valuable good or service, is not free its a scarce product that requires a great deal of work and effort.
Perhaps the Protestant Ethic of hard work, thrift and integrity are virtues of a past era in America.
Perhaps this quote from Professor Saunders best sums up his tragic philosophy that will no doubt, if followed, lead us into a road to serfdom, Dont be afraid to be confused. Try to remain permanently confused.
They can start that right now. Why the wait?
The highest level of stupidity and ignorance — Liberalism.
Perhaps Chipotle can stop taking in money and just operate on ‘love’.
I’d like to know how he “converted” to Buddhism since he apparently doesn’t know the first thing about karma.
Stupid DEFCON meter is overheating
My favorite hippy idea that crashed into reality was in the late 90s when Ben and Jerry’s ran a contest where the idea was that anybody could be a CEO. The contest winner turned out to be a failure. They eventually proved the opposite and had to hire a real CEO. Yes they were serious.
Obviously, farmers and ranchers don't work. What an idiot, but I expect no better from Syracuse. Where else would you find a stadium called The Carrier Dome and it doesn't have air conditioning?
In that case, I’m heading there with my friends and eat for free. Make the CEO who approved this idiocy pay for my food.
Well I am kind of hungry.
How many HOURS would they be in business if everyone ate FREE???? What DUMBASSES!!
Is someone trying to tell us that Mr. Saunders is not taking any money from his restaurants and his teaching salaries from Syracuse U, plus no money from his fiction
stories? HMMMMM? Yeah, Sure.
This is your brain on drugs.
Hope that in the future, all is well, everyone eats free, no one must work, all just sit around feeling love for one another.
This is a liberal's brain on drugs.
“Loud music, surly staff with excessive piercings, limited menu of crappy food at inflated pricessomething like a Taco Bell run by DMV.”
Sure fits everything I heard about them. I sort of wanted to try Chipotle but with this added to the pile I think I'll pass. Not boycotting them, just not going there.
I remember that one. IIRC, B and J also had some thing about how they weren’t going to pay the CEO more than X times the amount of the average worker, as a statement against corporate greed.
As it turned out (again, IIRC), no one worth their salt wanted to work for that price, and B & J ended up having to pay “typical” CEO pay to get somebody.
Well he writes fiction, plus converted to Buddhism. Nuff said
People like him should go out and give almost all his money away to the poor so that they can have what he has. Otherwise, he’s a hypocrite.
Over and over it has been proven that conservatives give more to the poor than liberals. He should put up or shut up.
Everyone I know loves Chipotle. Have been there once and never went back. Has nothing to do with their politics, I didn’t like their food.
Star Trek world, maybe???
I love Chipotle. It’s the only fast food we eat. I’ll ask for our free meals the next time we are there.
