Peres: Israel will punish terrorists ‘with a firm hand’ [Israel's President]

President Shimon Peres said the Israeli security crackdown will persist in its efforts to combat terror.

“Alongside the heavy mourning, we will remain determined to punish the villainous terrorists with a firm hand,” he said. “Our war on terror will only grow, and will not be weakened, such that this murderous terror will not dare raise its head.”

The president also offered his deepest condolences to the families and praised them for “devotedly raising their children.”

“The kidnapping and murder of innocent youths in the dead of the night is a heinous and unforgivable crime,” opposition leader and Labor Party chairman Isaac Herzog said in a Facebook statement. “There is no human explanation or justification and I am convinced that the long arm of the security forces will reach the murderers.”

Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon, Economy Minister Naftali Bennett, and Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein called for a forceful military response to the murder. The abductors of the teenagers have not been yet been located.

If Israel responds in any way the UN and the world community will condemn Israel - will give Hamas a pass.

Israel is careful that way and does VERY TARGETED responses and works to the extreme to avoid collateral damage. Israel is the best in the world at doing that.

Hamas is notorious for hiding in schools, hospitals and children's playgrounds.

Bibi really needs to put Hamas out of business. The caliphate is already making inroads in Gaza.

How many times have we heard from the UN that Israel’s response must be “proportional”?

I’m starting to agree with the UN here.

And the proportion I’m recommending is 1,000,000:1.

That is, slaughter 1,000,000 goat-humping philistines for every teenager killed.

Seems fair to me. Maybe even a little light.

If it’s “Hamas” Israel will do that, but they will NOT do that to the general Palestinian population. Israel is very, very careful that way.

Israel handles it, though. I’ve seen videos where they target an operative not 20 feet from a hospital ... :-) ...

Hamas thinks the UN and the world community will protect them by tying Israel's hands - don't think Israel will hold back on this. Hamas has a death wish that will be granted.

Children are not innocent nor exempt, nor are their mothers or grandmothers.

Children were killed, first degree murder.
