BREAKING: Hobby Lobby wins! (UPDATED…This is about abortion, not most contraceptions…)
The Right Scoop ^ | June 30 2014 | The Right Scoop

Posted on 06/30/2014 9:30:42 AM PDT by PoloSec

Hobby Lobby can’t be forced to pay for contraception coverage for their employees!

This ruling was 5-4 with Alito writing the opinion.

Will bring more as soon as I have it…

UPDATE: More…

AP – The Supreme Court says corporations can hold religious objections that allow them to opt out of the new health law requirement that they cover contraceptives for women.

The justices’ 5-4 decision Monday is the first time that the high court has ruled that profit-seeking businesses can hold religious views under federal law. And it means the Obama administration must search for a different way of providing free contraception to women who are covered under objecting companies’ health insurance plans.

UPDATE 2: This from Mark Levin’s Facebook:

Prediction: Having suffered recent losses at the Supreme Court (which, incidentally, are narrower than most are reporting), watch Obama start a smear campaign against the justices

UPDATE 3: It’s important to remember that this case wasn’t about contraception per se, but about abortion. There are around sixteen other types of contraception that Hobby Lobby does cover:

It’s also important to note that the business owners’ objections were not to contraception, per se, but to abortion. They argued that four types of contraception required to be covered amounted to abortion, as Alito noted and which Solicitor General, in arguing the Obama Administration case in March, has rejected as contrary to any ordinary understanding of what abortion is. Alito:

The owners of the businesses have religious objections to abortion, and according to their religious beliefs the four contraceptive methods at issue are abortifacients. If the owners comply with the HHS mandate, they believe they will be facilitating abortions, and if they do not comply, they will pay a very heavy price—as much as $1.3 million per day, or about $475 million per year, in the case of one of the companies. If these consequences do not amount to a substantial burden, it is hard to see what would.

Hobby Lobby will be punished by Obama and Obama will react in anger with some sort of executive action against Hobby Lobby type exemptions.

***

Obama can’t wait for more justices to retire so he can appoint more justices with his ideology. As it is now, the 5-4 rulings today were way too close.

The White House is oddly quiet.

Obama pouts, then he comes back with some other way to violate the constitution and get payback against anyone
who doesn't give him what he wants.

demanding, ill disciplined, despotic, and useless. Liberalism is the philosophy of sniveling brats.”

Contraception is basically abortion too. It prevents the fertilization of an egg, thus causing an interior abortion.

No, abortion is denial of the right to life of an innocent person. There is no view of genuine freedom that can permit murder.

One can argue the morality of contraception, but it is error to muddy the definition of abortion by conflating it with prevention of conception. If the egg and the sperm never unite, there is no unique human life to abort.

Hobby Lobby was being fined $1.3 million per day, or about $475 million per year by Obama’s IRS. Will they get an apology?

I think that this is about private property, as is most liberal/conservative disagreement.

So now he thinks he can use executive, err, “action”, to overrule the SC too?

It should apply to contraception as well. Are there no Catholic business owners?

It’s absurd that this was such a split.

There should be no question that people (that is what a business is, despite protests from OWS) should be able to do what they want and discriminate as they want.

Secondly, this really should bring up the whole premise that BC/abortion is a “health”/medical issue.

It is NOT a medical issue. Thus is should not even be covered by any insurance, much less forced by federal government upon every single person.

The only good news is that Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg is in the “on deck” circle, so he doesn’t gain anything but a younger Communist by her passing.

My fellow conservative FReepers,

The U.S. Supreme Court made history today. I believe that this is the first time that a majority of the court has agreed with a plaintiff’s argument that LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION!

This is a MAJOR DEFEAT for the abortion industry and liberals who have tried to argue that life only begins at birth.

**If the egg and the sperm never unite, there is no unique human life to abort.**

But this was not God's instruction!

Genesis 1

English Standard Version (ESV)

26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Bolded emphasis is mine.
