In a victory for religious freedom, the Supreme Court ruled today 5-4 in favor of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. and Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp. in the case Burwell v. Hobby Lobby (formerly named Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby). The case was the strongest legal challenge to Obamacare since 2012.

Justice Alito authored the majority opinion, and Justice Kennedy wrote a concurring opinion.

religious freedom won by a slim one vote margin. Praise God for that! I hope this is the beginning of a very sick nation turning back to our Creator and God!

This is a MASSIVE victory for freedom!

The Authoritarians (aka the Liberals/Leftist) will downplay this and try to spin it as a victory.

Don’t listen to their B.S. spin. This is HUGE!

When 5-4 decisions go to the conservatives, NPR and the NYT say the Court was “bitterly divided.” When 5-4 decisions go the liberals they say the decision was “closely decided.”

We are on the edge my friend... the decision was 5-4.

All we need is for (God Forbid) one of the conservative to die or retire before 2016 and we’ll have another Ginsberg on the bench.

With that, 5-4 will be THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

A good decision, but not broad and sweeping. Said "closely held corporations," in which a few stockholders control more than 50%. Doesn't exempt, say, Ford. Isn't a broad strike-down of the "mandate."

Still, it's a surprise. Moreover, when combined with the VERY strong blow against the unions, we must celebrate.

The caution here is that, as @bensmith said on Twitter, "The SCOTUS has a bad habit of infringing freedom broadly then making exemptions narrowly."

This is a very minor victory for the pro choice side.

A tiny exception to the governments sweeping power grab.

Kennedy already laid down a marker that he believes the government can cover the cost of the objectionable types of contraception. Implying he will dissent on a broader case.

And the four communists on the court want the bureaucrats to have absolute power to rule.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

But and this is a But as big as Moochelle's...its narrowly tailored to companies largely controlled by a few believers. One step forward. A baby step for sure. Elections have consequences and if we don't control the senate next term Obama will appoint, Marx, Engels, Mao and Castro or their surrogates to the sure to be created openings on the high court.

Those who object to the HobbyLobby ruling can just find a job someplace else.
Why would any die-hard, G-d-less liberal want to work at a business that does not support their death cult anyway?
PTL and
Glory to God for victories large and small.

In the Authoritarians (aka Liberals/Leftist) when they lose standard ops is to say it was close like in 2000 election.

However, when they win... they never mention how close the vote was like in Mississippi.

Guardedly celebratory ... I’d like to read the opinions to see how broad this is.

If broad enough, it may set a precedent that also protects businesses from having their religious freedoms overridden by homosexuals.

Shocking that Justice Kennedy would be on our side for this one but you got to take whatever victory you can get against the left.

“While still a legal victory for Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp., the decision is limited to closely-held for-profit corporations, not non-profits such as Little Sisters of the Poor.”

Will this decision have any effect on Obamacare premiums that include fees to cover contraception? It would seem that if it's unconstitutional for a corporation to be forced to pay then it would also be unconstitutional for individuals to be forced to pay. What about tax-payer-funded coverage (for those who are covered at little or no cost to themselves)?
