"You are entitled to your views, but you are not entitled to promote them and proselyte others to them while remaining in full fellowship in the Church," wrote Bishop Mark Harrison of Virginia.

Damn, how I wish the Catholic Bishops would take similar actions on abortion pushing Catholic congress critters too numerous to even list here.

For those who would not otherwise know what the phrase "barred from some acts of church worship" means, it means that she would not be allowed to offer the opening or closing prayer at a Church meeting, to teach a class, or to give a talk in Sacrament Meeting. OTOH, the standard language and procedure would be for her to be invited to come to all Church meetings. If, at the end of one year she met with her bishop and stake president and agreed to support all Church teachings, her excommunication could be reversed through re-baptism. That, at least, was the procedure when I was involved in such events.

Kate's parents were disciplined, too.

Time for another September Six? Rock Waterman? John Dehlin? (Denver Snuffer's gone already).

All this while the bullet-proof Tom Phillips has never been ex-d and has not resigned.

” . . . a trial by judges in the Mormon Church”

Nope. No legalism here. Nope!

Shut up sister! Come back in a year when you have shown yourself worthy to the men in charge.

What I've found in frequent FR discussions of "priesthood" is that many operate on a Roman Catholic "model" of what that word means...also not understanding that even 12 year old boys hold a "priesthood" status in the Mormon church...see for example this Oct. 7, 2013 thread:
Ordain Women Group Turned Away At Conference [Mormon church turns women away from meeting]

To address a more Biblically justified understanding of "priesthood" and related terms, just posted this vanity: Time for new reformation re: understanding of Biblical priesthood, sainthood, & ordination [Vanity]
