By most accounts, going into tomorrow's Republican primary for U.S. Senate, state Sen. Chris McDaniel of Laurel has a commanding advantage over the incumbent, U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran.
That is, among likely GOP voters.
Over the weekend, Chism Strategiesa Democratic firm that has commissioned several polls since the June 3 primary election that resulted in a runoffunveiled its latest survey of Republicans that shows McDaniel leading Cochran by eight points. For the first time since Chism began polling, the lead is well outside the 4 percent margin of error.
"Unless Cochran expands the electorate with general-election Republicans and crossover Democrats, McDaniel wins," Chism pollsters wrote.
Yet, Chism's group and other experts agree that it's difficult to measure a number of variables .....

She may have to block Team Romney for trying to make the same sort of 11th hour Kingmaker entry.
Look for the buses full of black peopl with DC” plates to roll in at 6:00 pm. They would have been there earlier but they were in other counties voting
Given the visceral (and misguided) dislike most blacks have for the GOP, I wonder how many of them will actually show up and pull the lever for Cochran.
Cochran’s voting record is not nearly as bad as Olympia Snowe’s or Susan Collins, so it’s not like the blacks are really improving things all that much by voting for Cochran.
Isn’t MS a semi-closed primary? If you don’t vote in the regular primary, you don’t get to vote in the run-off?
If we could somehow arrange for election day to coincide with welfare “check” disbursement day, there would be no problem.
Exactly. How many low information voters will turn out for a run-off Republican primary election. You may get 10,000
but I don’t see much more than that and probably less.
A GOTV in a run-off takes a lot of effort. A Jesse or Al would need to show up and whip up the crowd-I don’t see that happening.
umm, yeah... that is what he means to do... you, Dr. Hill of Jackson State, are an idiot and in need of education in logic...
i think it is the opposite for someone not in that party... so Dems who did not vote in the primary are able to vote in the run-off...
Maybe Cochran will Cockroach his way past McDaniel...
A Republican using Democrats to get past his Republican opponent... Maybe this will be known as the cockroach strategy of Cochran...
I doubt seriously if many, if any, black voters will make a special trip to vote for the old white guy.
We need to investigate large numbers of dead voting... it means ‘the people who don’t show up to vote’ are being voted. The ‘dead vote’ is a small portion of that vote - but it’s the primary indicator of that type of voter fraud.
People are going to go to jail if they’re doing this...
