I went to pick up my kids from school the other day, my usual 3 o'clock date with the playground. My eldest son's teacher met me as I walked up, all atwitter with excitement. "We had some high-school seniors come in today to do some tutoring, and your son just really clicked with one of the boys," she told me. "He just talked and talked to him, and they got along so well." She knows just how painfully shy my son can be around new people and was just as happy as I was that he could find someone to interact with in a way other than hiding behind someone taller than he and sneaking glances around their torso.
"Let me guess," I said. "Is this boy slim, dark-haired and very pretty?" Most people can't talk to people they find attractive, but my shy, shy boy is the exact opposite.

Maybe he’s working on Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome because *he* isn’t getting enough Look At Me!!! time.
Obviously, the father does not remember that 9 years old boys do not like girls. Boys are talking only to each other. A mutual interest is normal, but it is usually driven by common activities, or common hobbies, or by other sources of respect. There is no sexual drive at that age, and there is no ability to realize such a drive. Boys rarely pay any attention to looks of other boys. The father is projecting his own insanity onto his child - who, in the end, may become recruited as "one of them."
Daddy got gaydar. Some sick sh!t.
“But luckily, I didn’t have to worry what this high-school boy might think, since I know that my in-laws and nieces have a “no homophobes allowed” policy when it comes to their friends. That’s not the easiest thing to pull off in a backwater part of a backwater state, but they are fighting the good fight right on the front lines of bigotry. They’re all awesome like that.”
Oh, puke, how big of him. Who is the real bigot there in backwater USA?!
I think I'm going to regret asking this, but what exactly makes one 9 year old boy "prettier" than another to this father?
For that matter, what percentage of 9-year olds aren't slim?
Here's a random 3rd grade group photo... which ones are "very pretty" and which ones aren't slim?
And what heterosexual or even metrosexual adult male refers to boys as “very pretty”?
This is the increased sexualisation of our kids. Why can’t we let under 16s be kids instead of sexualising them? This is sick
When I was that age, my reason for hanging out with a handsome older boy would be that I saw him as being "cool" and wanted to find out how to be "cool". I don't recall having sexual interests at that age.
This man’s dream is that his son grows up to be queer.
If people were this way throughout history we would still be living in caves.
If as many people were homosexuals as the progs would like you to beleive we would not have made it to the caves let alone out of them.........
9 year old boys don’t really “lust” after anything. They don’t have the hormonal drive. I agree this is 100 % projection on the part of the “ father”.
Normal men do not refer to high school boys as "pretty".
Boys are "handsome", not "pretty", except to homosexuals.
Just .... Sick
I notice the author has no trouble deciding what is going through other peoples heads. And making moral judgements about them based on what he believes they are thinking.
...as in ‘your interior monologue is starting to piss me off’...stopped reading there...I know the type, and they piss me off...
This dad is both stupid AND sick.
...he may well be both...and reading this tripe has put a crimp in my day already...but he sure does play to HuffPo’s base, just read the commentaries...
..on a more sober note, I believe there are people in my Catholic parish who would find this article cute and intuitive...females,for the most part, who ‘man’ the social justice ministry, but some males also...
...as they say in Amish country, ‘it wonders me’...
I refuse to read this drivel.
...I wish I’d done that...
Maybe dad wants a piece of the action?
...in a sane universe, ‘dad’ would be placed under surveillance by Child Services...in a sane universe...
