'None of the Above' Wins Dem Primary for Governor in Nevada

An upset last night in the Democrat primary for governor of Nevada was almost as stunning as the Brat win in VA-7.

"None of the Above" won with 29.96% of the vote. Nevada was the first state to institute a “none of the above” line to its ballot in 1975, as a way for voters to protest weak, unqualified candidates.

OK, Nevada Freepers. Tell us what this means. Is the Democrat Party able to fill the nomination line with some committee assignment? Or does ‘None of the Above’ automatically take up their line in the General Election?

What is the use of having a “none of the above” selection if you give the nominee to the next candidate? None of the above is a rejection of ALL of them therefore none of them should win.

If “None of the above” receives 50 % plus one vote, than none of the names on the ballot can be placed on the next ballot, IMHO, of course.

If "None of the above" wins an election for a real post, that post should be vacant for on election cycle.
What a wonderful way to downsize the government.
Too bad it does not downsize any departments with it.

It would be if the office could actually go unfilled. The nomination is going to the runner-up, the “none of the above” is simply a feel good protest vote. If a candidate remembers to vote for himself and the entire electorate besides the candidate votes “none of the above” the greedy little statist politician is still getting into office.

That’s really not too far removed from communist “elections”, we just bother throwing another party in the mix to give people the illusion of choice and representation.

Much better if the polity could actually vote to leave an office unfilled. We might actually see decent voter turnouts if the public could vote “Leave me the **** alone!”.

According to the article, "none of the above" cannot "win". Thus, the 2nd place finisher -- an unknown named Robert Goodman will be the nominee.
