It would be if the office could actually go unfilled. The nomination is going to the runner-up, the “none of the above” is simply a feel good protest vote. If a candidate remembers to vote for himself and the entire electorate besides the candidate votes “none of the above” the greedy little statist politician is still getting into office.

That’s really not too far removed from communist “elections”, we just bother throwing another party in the mix to give people the illusion of choice and representation.

Much better if the polity could actually vote to leave an office unfilled. We might actually see decent voter turnouts if the public could vote “Leave me the **** alone!”.
