House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) failed to congratulate or even acknowledge Dave Brat in his concession speech last night.
Neither did Cantor offer Brat his support in November's general election against his Democratic opponent, or call Brat to concede the race, according to Brat.
"Cantor's concession speech did not mention Dave once," Brat's campaign manager Zach Werrell noted to Breitbart News.

You hate what the Democrats do so much that you despise any Republican who dares compromise with a Democrat. Your solution? You hope Democrats win?
Well. I guess I’m glad of that, too.
When you’re a traitor like him, you should have some dignity at least when all your appeasing and equivocations and your efforts to sell our sovereignty down the river are utterly repudiated in the face of your appeasing, scheming establishment Republican co-conspirators as they are watching.
I sit here watching this influx of so-called helpless children into our country and our resources collapsing amid Federal Government capitulation and NOT ONE DAMNED WORD from ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANISM regarding doing anything about it. We are now looking at a total collapse of our society and none of them are doing anything about it.

I agree with you. The GOPe always tells us to support the Republican who wins the primary no matter what, but they have a history of doing the exact opposite. I hope Cantor actually comes out and supports Brat, but the GOPe’s track record in this regard is pretty poor.
I believe we really do need to build a coalition of like minded voters in order to muster enough votes to defeat Democrats. The moderates often claim they want a big tent, too. So let’s see what happens here with Cantor.
His concession speech was terrible. I don’t care whether he was shocked or not, any politician knows you are supposed to congratulate the primary winner and offer them your unconditional support in the general election. That’s what’s in the best interests of the party and ultimately the country, because it’s very bad indeed when Democrats win because Republicans can’t get their act together.

I’m sick of it, but why can’t the House get anything done? I submit it’s primarily because the Democrats have the Senate and the presidency. Has the president ever given any indication whatsoever that he’s open to compromise? No, and Harry Reid has the president’s back. That leaves the House only two practical choices: shut the government down or tread water in hopes that the votes change in 2014 or 2016.
I know it’s frustrating! It pisses me off that we have some good people in Congress, and they’re essentially powerless. I love Senator Cruz and some of the others, but he can’t do anything unless we send him more allies.
The solution offered by some here on Free Republic? Vote for Democrats to defeat any Republican who dares compromise with Democrats. How in the world is THAT going to make the situation in the Senate any better? So instead of having a RINO quisling who sometimes compromises with Democrats, we actually prefer a full on Democrat—someone who will absolutely vote against us for at least six more years?!?
Unlike some of those on Free Republic who offer up voting for Democrats as a solution, I will not call them “morons” or use acronyms to shout obscenities at them. You see, the path to political victory lies in building bridges, not burning them all down.

It’s not hard to understand. Better the enemy you know and can unite against, than the “friend” who pretends to be on your side and then crosses the aisle to help the enemy on every important issue, or stands idly by refusing to impede or block while they ram things through.
I’ve held my nose and voted for folks who I knew were weak. John McCain was a perfect example. Lesser of two poor choices. I voted because Sarah Palin was on the ticket.
Do I hope Democrats win? No. But it’s better that the blame lay entirely on their shoulders, with a clear “D” of failure on it, than to have any hint of “R” compromise.
If the compromise is on something for the actual GOOD of the country then there is no problem with that.
The GOP in Congress united against Obamacare. That was good. They should be doing the same against everything this admin has tried to ram through. That’s why we sent them there in 2010.
Agreeing to ram through Amnesty for an invasion of Illegal Aliens who care nothing about being American other than getting on the free chow line and voting Democrat forever is NOT for the good of the Country.
If that’s not clear enough, then there’s nothing else I can say to you about it.

I agree with your point about blaming the Tea Party. The GOPe is hostile to the very people who are the backbone of the party.

It happens out here too. It’s such a crock to see folks blame California for this and that when you can’t get the GOPe to help fund decent candidates even when they raise tens of millions the state.

Believe me, I want the quislings identified and thrown out of office, but the time to do that is during the primaries. That’s why Cantor’s loss is so exciting. That’s exactly how it needs to be done.
The problem is, what to do if someone like Cantor wins the primary? Some here propose voting for Democrats to defeat RINOs like Cantor. In other words, they’re willing to sacrifice someone who is with us some of the time for someone who will be against us all of the time.
Some make a valid point that a Democrat win might actually be better in some cases. That makes some sense to me. For example, let’s say we have someone like McCain who not only is a RINO but a RINO with a lot of political power to do damage to us. In some few cases, there might be a legitimate reason to sacrifice a seat as the only possible way to eventually put a decent person in it. Of course, that’s a minimum SIX YEAR wait when it comes to a senator.
I’m not talking about the exceptions, though. I’m saying it’s generally a very bad idea to elect Democrats. I don’t even care if the moderates vote Democrat to defeat conservatives. We know that’s what some of them do, and even though it infuriates me, I’m not going to cut my own political throat to get back at them.
In very precise terms and not counting a few special cases where the RINO is doing us grave injury, I want someone to explain to me exactly how the country is somehow better with more Democrats in office.

Peter King of NY is a perfect example; never misses an opportunity to verbally attack Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, etc. How is he any different than a Democrat? But we’re supposed to support him because he has an R after his name? Not happening.
