Here is the video description,
MTB ride on Saturday 31st May 2014 from Ongegund, last few kms before end of session. Armed gunman and 2 others stopped myself and took cellphone, car keys, oakleys and bike.
Fortunately they did not have a clue what a GOPRO was and this is the evidence that will assist in their procecution!
While this incident ended up OK for the victim (well, he wasnt shot anyway), this could have gone bad very quickly and he would have had no way to defend himself.
MTB Gunpoint Robbery in Somerset West

UPDATE: According to one international report, the suspects in the video have already been caught thanks to the video evidence.
Occasionally we have to look at stories which did not result in a defensive gun use to remind ourselves why we carry.
In this case, a mountain biker was robbed at gunpoint by several individuals while out riding his bike on a trail in South Africa (Im pretty sure its SA anyway).

That title says it all
Wonder why the robber didn’t steal the GOPRO? This whole thing might be a fiction to create a viral video ad for GOPRO.
Looks to me to be a set up....
Do these riders conceal a gun in their speedo’s?
Criminals arent known for their brains.
Before there was go pro I had a helmet camera hooked to a camcorder in a backpack. I recorded a collision on the trail. The feller at fault was ready to kick some ass. After seeing the video, he apologized and left.
Are you saying that robberies never happen?
What is a GoPro?
You put your life in your hands by NOT carrying when you go off trail like that. Where was this?
Did you miss the part about the perps being brought into court?
WATCH: Cyclist films bike-jacking - three in court
http://www.enca.com/south-africa/watch-cyclist-films-bike-jacking-3-courtCAPE TOWN Three men have appeared briefly in court after they were filmed robbing a cyclist of his mountain bike and cellphone in the Helderberg on Saturday.
Malcolm Fox was cycling on a trail with a GoPro camera strapped to his helmet when an armed man ran towards him and ordered him off his bike.
Fox can be seen climbing off as two more men approach, before making off with the bicycle and phone.
Western Cape police spokesman Andre Traut said two of the men were arrested on Sunday.
“Thorough investigation work led investigators to the suspects with the help of footage recorded with a camera which was mounted on the cyclists helmet. The first suspect aged 22 was arrested on Sunday at his residence in Sir Lowrys Pass and a Luger firearm was seized. The same day another 22 year old suspect was arrested, also in Sir Lowrys pass.”
My first thoughts as well.
Allow myself to introduce ... myself.
That’s all I took away from this, sorry.
And me too, but, those who will not use the gun should not carry the gun.
So your point is some sort of nitpicking argument?
Thats all I took away from you comment, sorry.
See comment #10 Please
I see this as an object lesson for all - you never know when criminals may strike, just as you never know when a fire might break out or injury occur.
I believe it was in South Africa, but that kind of thing can happen anywhere.
Small video camera.
