The hometown of U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl has canceled a rally planned for later this month celebrating his release from five years of Taliban captivity, a municipal official told Reuters on Wednesday, amid allegations that he was a deserter.

They took a lot of heat, my own included. When it became obvious that the entire affair is being coordinated from Washington DC and that they would end up holding a flaming bag of political dog poo when it was left on their collective porch, they wisely opted out.
