Marine held in Mexican jail may be experiencing unbearable PTSD symptoms
FoxNews.com ^ | May 24, 2014 | Dr. Keith Ablow

Andrew Tahmooressi, the Marine sergeant and combat veteran jailed in Mexico since March 31 when he inadvertently crossed the border (missing a confusing turnaround point in the road), has a history of severe head trauma and was reportedly recently diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In the nearly two months since his arrest, he has been held shackled in a cell, first at the notorious La Mesa Prison in Tijuana and now at the federal prison at El Hongo.

Tahmooressi reportedly slit his own throat and tried to escape while held in Tijuana and was then chained to his bed by all four limbs. For someone like Sergeant Tahmooressi, who has a history of PTSD, after serving two tours in Afghanistan, being held in prison could easily spark severe psychiatric symptoms now, and chronically. One way to think about PTSD is to imagine that the mind has failed to compartmentalize stressful memories from the past. Recollections of friends dying violently or other horrific scenes of violence -- all too frequent in war -- are not, when PTSD is present, relegated to memory banks that a person accesses voluntarily. They reverberate too close to the surface of consciousness and can cause paranoia, hyper-vigilance or panic with even minimal (or no) current stresses. The traumatic experiences can also leak out as flashbacks to terrifying scenes one has lived through.

This means that Sergeant Tahmooressi could misinterpret skirmishes in the jail as impending combat. He could truly believe he is unarmed and about to die. He could believe, many times a day, that he is about to be executed.

Where's all the veterans organizations, the Amvets, the Legion, the VFW? Where's all the multitudes of civilian organizations that support the military? I see no pressure at all being exerted on Obama and his regime by these hundreds of thousands of vets and members of support groups.

Can't all the clergy across the fruited plain have a special prayer for him on a given Sunday? That's pressure! Where's the support, where's any demonstrations? Where's Congress, where are the Senators...why aren't they holding press conferences on this travesty on the steps of the Capitol? That's pressure!

Where's the travel industry threatening to boycott and not book vacations to the luxury spots of Mexico's lush resorts? That's REAL pressure that has worked before on that corrupt country south of the border.

I spit on any Americans taking luxurious vacations on the Mexican Riviera or in the cruise ports-of-call while this American Marine rots away in the living hell of a vermin-infested Mexican bastille.

The race hustling politicos are playing the “white privilege” card on both sides of the border, attempting to appeal to the mass of prejudiced illegal “constituents” north of the border and the subjects of Mexico’s utopian existance south of the border (from which bliss, millions have fled north of the border).

The Mexicans claim that the U.S. Marine has a girlfriend in Mexico, whom he was headed to see, plus, what we have been told regarding his statements that he made to Mexican border guards, when he was stopped at the border ... did not occur.

The Mexicans claim that he did not ID himself as a U.S. Marine, and that he did not state the details of his highway navigation difficulty re the last turnoff from the southbound lanes.

Given that the same race hustlers are anti-individual rights (egs 2nd Amendment), they’re going to try and make an example of him. Meaning, that the Obama Regime and the Mexican Regime want a lot of tribute.

If one of the Regime puppets had made the same border mistake, we’d be hearing the word “highway malfunction” and that’s ... “settled” as the leftists say.

But if you are not a stooge for socialism, then you face: “It’s the seriousness of the charges,” and as big a political deal (all the way around) that can be made, will be made.

Because this U.S. Marine is important to patriotic Americans, he must be scourged by the left; and with each lash, the Republicans in the Congress, must surrender portions of the pursuit of justice re Benghazi, re the IRS, and whatever additional property and rights can be taken away from Americans.

Leftists, liberals, socialists, and banksters one and all ... don’t want this kid back; to the contrary, he fell into their lap, whether he cross the border into Mexico or into New York (New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois ... the list goes on and grows).

George W. Bush could pick up the phone, make 1 phone call, and the young man would be released, just like that.

He won’t. Because he and the illegal alien / illegal immigration amnesty proponents, want to be on a deal, too.

See, Bush can snort cocaine and be forgiven.

All manner of politicians, except conservatives, are forgiven.

10’s of millions of illegal aliens, are forgiven.

But not your mistake, where you would have happily put yourself on the right side of the border within minutes. No, *THAT* cannot be forgiven.

You raise a good point, where are the Veterans groups in this? WTF? Maybe they are trying but we haven't heard about it?

This is one of the worst stories I've heard, and I would be happy to donate to help this man. Should we maybe set up a fund for the express purpose of helping him?

I'm not a vet and find it sickening to see what is happening here.

At noon, construction crews start building fencing on farmers land. Force Obama and the administration to either bring our marine home or explain to the American people why illegals are more important than our troops.

Don't try to get a construction job if you're not AT LEAST bilingual.

People have no idea what to do. What do you do? Raise funds for his defense? Write congress? Pretty much none of that will have any effect. Shut down a border crossing, Mexico will cave in seconds. Impact NAFTA, the administration will cave in seconds. Boycotting Mexican products? Pretty ineffective, and allows the narrative to be dictated by the media - these are people who hate Mexicans, racists. Shut down the border crossing? All it does is cut off money from Mexico, far more than they will skim from bribes.

Forget Holder. This kid isn’t of the proper ethnic persuasion for him to feign outrage.

If this piece of crap occupying the WH had ever served in the military, this Marine would be home by now.

If we had believed the WH occupant when he told us he was born a British subject, amd was thus a naturalized citizen, this Marine would be home. The occupant, a "professor of Constitutional Law", used the terminology of the 14th Amendment, "I am a native-born citizen of the U.S." having been born to one citizen parent, and on our soil, to explain his own status. A "native-born" citizen is defined within the 14th Amendment, and being "native-born" doesn't necessarily define citizenship; American Indians were native-born, and explicitly deemed not citizens, because their allegiance was to another form of government.

Too few read for themselves or Alinsky tactics wouldn't be so effective. The Constitution explicitly avoids including definitions, as Madison explained, because the meanings of words change over time. Both parties are complicit which is why the Republicans are silent, and the press promotes a series of naturalized citizens as Republican candidates for the next presidential election, possible hoping Republicans will run a naturalized citizen against Hillary, whose lieutenant, Berg, initialized the Kenyan birth misdirection.

Both parties tried, and failed to amend Article II Section 1 between 2001 and 2007 - seven times. Conyers tried twice, Menendez and Frank once each, Rohrabacher, Nickles, and Hatch (for Schwarzenegger) once each. Obama and his campaign co-chair, McCaskill, sponsored the red-herring Senate Bill 2678, the ‘‘Children of Military Families Natural Born Citizen Act’’ in February 2008, which didn't pass and would have violated separation of powers had it done so.

Too few have taken our Constitution, its amenders, and our justices seriously. Otherwise they would understand how important the author of our first naturalization amendment considered natural born citizenship. John Bingham, Congressman and Judge, author of the 14th, clearly explained several time to Congress in 1866 while arguing for its passage, who were natural born citizens, and why his amendment changed only who could be naturalized by law; Man's Law cannot change what is in the Constitution, and based upon Nature's Law. The Constitution can be changed only by amendment, or a Constitutional Convention.

...simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen….

Obama himself left no doubt about the allegiance of his father to Marxism and, when Barry was born, to The Crown, since Barack Sr. was a British subject when Barry was born. Allegiance of the parent isn't a guarantee of the child's allegiance, but the “natural law” upon which our nation was constructed stated that parent's allegiance, and birth on its soil defined a native, or natural born citizen.

It was sarcasm, just to point out how inept our government is. Sorry that I assumed people would get that.

I find it amazing that average citizens can come up with possible plans to get this Marine released, while those in “command” remain clueless;sitting on their brains.
