I am trying to help a friend find out information on her father. He was a POW and the Russians took the camp prisoners and they were never heard form again. Three men ducked out on the Russians and made it home. Her father was one. Does anyone have any sources for me to check more on this?

We have BAD fires to the south of us. The winds shifted overnight and we are engulfed in smoke.
I keep my windows open at night and woke up to smoke this morning. Windows are now closed and fans will have to suffice when I get home.
I cannot breathe and my eyes just water and water, and I am in the office. I am learning new empathy for those with allergies. (I always did feel bad for them, but more so now.)
Maybe some rain next week. We have had none all spring.
Have a wonderful long weekend, beachy. ((HUGS))

WWII Vet - try the National Archives for his service record. Many of the WWII records were lost due to fire, but it's worth a shot.

Just did a quick Google search on “escape from Russian POW Camps WW2” and got a lot of hits. Quite a bit to wade through, but you may find some threads to do additional searches on.
