n a speech in Washington on Friday, Hillary Clinton repeatedly criticized economic and social conditions under President Obama, barely mentioning the accomplishments of the man who appointed her secretary of State. Clinton's address, at the New America Foundation, was a broad indictment of the country's current leadership, with exactly one -- one -- note of praise for the Democratic president Clinton has called her partner and friend.
Clinton, never known for self-effacement, began by noting her lifelong desire to make the world a better place and the "driving force" toward public service instilled in her by her mother. From there, Clinton went on to describe the United States today as a very troubled place.
In remarks focused almost exclusively on domestic economic concerns, Clinton began by noting what she called "the basic bargain of America." "No matter who you are or where you come from," she said, echoing her husband's campaigns from the 1990s, "if you work hard and play by the rules, you'll have an opportunity to build a good life."
But: "For too many families in America today, that isn't the way it works. Instead of getting ahead, they're finding it harder and harder than ever to get their footing in our changing economy. The dream of upward mobility that made this country a model for the world feels further and further out of reach."
Millions of Americans are "frustrated, even angry" about today's economy, Clinton said. Falling into poverty is a constant threat, and upward mobility is almost impossible. "Forget about getting rich," Clinton told the audience, "I'm talking about getting into the middle class and staying there."
While productivity is up, Clinton noted, "wages have stagnated." "Americans are working harder, contributing more than ever
and yet many are still barely getting by."

She is moving to the centrist position. Just like hubby did. By election time, if she does run and win the nomination [which I doubt], she will make herself appear more conservative than the GOP nominee.
She is one of many who run to the right and govern to the left. Just is just another Leftist chameleon trying to appear to be something she is not. Additionally, she will be running as an extension of her hubby’s presidency, not Obama’s.
Tacking Right? Pretty early in her campaign.
Yes....and if you work really, really hard at not following the rules, you can turn small investments in cattle futures into a huge return, avoid impeachment, get elected to the Senate and be appointed SoS with no qualifications whatsoever.
The Clintons believe that 2008 was to be Hillary’s year, that Obama cheated her out of her best chance. They have been waiting for the chance to get some pay back.I think the attacks will continue and intensify.
There Hillary, I fixed it for you!
OMG-the witch is running.
The machine is in motion.
Odd too because Obama deballed her and used her as an excuse as SOS.
Now the same machine is gearing her up.
They’ll defend her to the max now.
Excellent post. I work with a LOT of upper middle class immigrants in Silicon Valley and I am dismayed that so many of them are bewildered by the free market economy of their adopted land. I frequently hear them call for more government control and regulation to reduce all the uncertainties and vagaries of life. It is clear they bring their central statist, authoritarian views with them from Europe, Russia, China, India and Latin America. So it is natural they migrate to the Dem party.
The three decade shift away from the Republican Party shown in Table 4 is really alarming.
The educated immigrants want strong central government to reduce risk and uncertainty. The lower class immigrants simply want more free stuff. Together, they strengthen the Dems enormously. It ain’t for nothing the Republicans are called the Stupid Party.
We’re you convinced the American people would elect a community organizer TWICE?wall street loves Hillary ,millionaires love Hillary, the media loves Hitlery, she has the big money and the propaganda machine behind her, that’s all you need
And why is it hard to stay in the middle class hillary...because progressives like you are taking more and more of our money.
She backed obamacare and Hillarycare which do just that. She’s a liar.

Unless you buy my new Book on Cattle Futures Trading.....
You too can get rich overnight with cattle futures (wink, wink}. (Do I
need to tell you folks that that’s a dog whistle for illegal campaign contributions?)
It’s going to be Bush vs Clinton, again.
God help us all.
Now there's a lofty inspirational goal.
You are right. I want people to wake up, but I fear it is too late.
So, this must mean that H*****y is racist.
That comes as no surprise.
I agree.
Republicans need to stop selling out our very own country. (I’m not just picking on the GOP because the Dems are just as bad)
Everyone is selling out the USA.
We need to bring back jobs, and stop hiring everyone else. Hire Americans.
Bring back American companies, and American jobs.
For crying out loud. We have sold out America for more than an entire generation.
China now makes more than American makes.
Bring back jobs to the USA.
What is Joe Biden gonna run on?
THE OBAMA COALITION IS ABOUT TO COME APART

Does this mean Chrissy Mathews is going to announce that Hillary! is officially a racist?
