Students at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota have cancelled an event to celebrate the end of the year after complaints that bringing a camel on campus could offend those of Middle Eastern cultures.
The Hump Day event, put on by the Residence Hall Association (RHA), was supposed to be a petting zoo type of atmosphere in which students could hang out and take photos with a live camel. According to Aaron Macke, the groups advisor, the camel is owned by a local vendor and trained for special events.
But the event was subsequently cancelled after students took to Facebook to proclaim their concerns. The students said they were concerned about the money spent on bringing the camel to campusaround $500and the implication that it would be racially insensitive to Middle Eastern cultures.
Camels are native to North and South America and migrated to Asia on the land bridge between Alaska and Russia
You got that right, and there’s no better place to quickly find em than at “our esteemed” universities.
I would think by now that the UofM Golden Gophers mascot would have been attacked by some PC pinhead.
Middle Eastern is NOT a race.
The Irish would go NUTS if an Irish Terrier was brought on campus./s
.
I didn’t realize camels had a race. I didn’t rralize there os a race called “middle east.” I guess the fact that camels have been brought all over the world as work animals is racist. And why would anyone be offended by seeing a camel? If anything I am offended this is only a one humped dromedary and not a two humped model. Lousy humpists!
“Are we taklin one humpers or two humpers?”
Clearly the “one humper” is under privileged and at a distinct disadvantage from both a physical, social and economic standpoint.
The two humper, by its very nature, is the root cause of hump inequality.
Because of this inequality, one humpers languish in self-loathing and find their only meaningful outlets in vice.
Only through the forced re-distribution of humps can we ever hope to achieve equality and equal opportunity for all camels.
I hereby seek to purposefully offend every muther*****er I can.
Maybe we should have let the kiddies play with Joe Camel after all.

:: and the implication that it would be racially insensitive to Middle Eastern cultures ::
And how does that work since...
The arabic and other Middle-eastern cultures are considered caucasian?
IOW, they be crackahs, too!
If middle easterners are offended by camels, why are there so many camels in the middle east?
I traded in my dromedary for a new bactrian. I got two humps for one!
Camelids are some of my favorite critters (preferably llamas, but I like camels, too- especially Bactrian).
I don’t remember college kids being so drama-addicted. Geez, these people get butthurt over pretty much everything.
Hump Day is sexist..... : )
OR, maybe the problem isn't the hump but the toe.
Why sand monkeys don’t have sex ed and drivers ed the same day? Too hard on the camels.
Does it really matter!
Those claws hurt and the dog is almost as strong as I am.... and I have pride... a little bit... smidgen...
All they know how to do is run their mouths, text and take selfies.

Casual sex seems to have been mastered, as well.
Perhaps the objection is similar to the reason the islamonazis need to have their women covered up —so they will not be tempted by lust.
LOL be careful, the Gopher lobby may come after you!
