Effort to Approve Keystone Collapases in Senate
CNN ^ | May 12, 201 | Fred Barrett

A bipartisan Senate effort to approve the controversial Keystone XL pipeline collapsed Monday making it unlikely a politically potent vote on the project will take place before November’s midterm election.

A vote on Keystone was tied to the fate of an unrelated energy efficiency bill that has support in both parties. But that measure failed to get the 60 votes it needed to move forward after getting bogged down in partisan fighting over whether GOP amendments would be allowed.

Let the Democrats own the absence of jobs, Obamacare, and the other failed policies they have dumped on the American People.

There's an Election coming...

A shame. Times like this would be more advantageous to have only 50 votes.

Well we were told here that principle didn’t matter. Here is another example of that stupidity.

America had a chance to dump this scum and his scummy pals who control the senate back a couple of year ago. They didn’t. He was reelected for the gift of free stuff. Americans will step in it again come November.

From the article:

"When Democratic leaders said they would schedule a vote on Keystone they did so knowing a bill ultimately would probably fail, but they still hoped that holding the vote would be helpful to their vulnerable Democrats facing re-election. Three of 17 Democrats who had supported a non-binding vote on the issue a year ago said they would not vote for it in the current form, all but assuring it could not get the 60 votes needed to succeed."

If the above is accurate, the [R] Senators knew the bill was going to fail no matter what. Presumably, obstructing the vote on the bill (by insisting on being allowed to propose/debate amendments) prevented the Dems who are running for re-election in red states to campaign on the premise that they voted for the Keystone pipeline...even though the bill failed.

Your USG is _so_ bought and paid for; it is completely overrun with foreign interests from within and key lobbying and special interest, institutions funded or controlled by scores of hundred billion dollars of wealth transferred to foreign nations, mostly your enemies.

"Effort to Approve Keystone Collapases in Senate..."

.... America has long since ceased to be the Great and Mighty Engine and Compass of Freedom ...

.... It's now dissolved into an insignificant Country of Politics and nothing more.

..... Doomed to wander in the desolate wilderness of backstabbing and bickering. She has lost her way and her pride is broken. Until perhaps one day when she is weary of consuming herself, amid the vast sea of empty of vacuous political discord perhaps another champion of freedom will once again rise to restore to her the freedom that she ripped from her heart and cast into that same sea of emptiness.

The last thing the GOP needs to do at this point is to help the Rats out of the hole they dug.

At least the Senate Reps helped Obama get an amnesty bill thru. And Boehner and Cantor are working on one now in the House. You can bet the Reps will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the midterms.

“Effort to Approve Keystone Collapses in Senate”

Interesting headline. When something the liberals oppose fails in the senate. It had bi partisan support and it just happened to collapse. Yet when something that the liberals favors fails in the Senate, the headline is “republicans block...”.

Reid’s decision may hurt moderate Senate Democrats such as Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Mark Begich of Alaska who are up for re-election this fall in red states and who support Keystone. For instance, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, who chairs the energy committee, has made passing Keystone a top legislative and political priority as she runs for a third term in a state that is heavily dependent on the energy industry for jobs.

Which is why the GOP made sure the vote would fail. If they take the Senate then they can pass it anyway. In the mean time they can use this as something to beat up the Democrats with.

... an unrelated energy efficiency bill

I wonder what that one's about. No doubt, more "green" tyranny causing energy prices to "necessarily skyrocket."

The election campaigns have hardly started, both parties need time to shakedown Warren Buffett and his oil trains...before they even consider Keystone XL.

Yeah, the dims knew, and they also had to know they were watering into the wind without having a veto-proof vote so as to beat the White Hut Kenyan behind his jugears. A serious effort would require 2/3 or so of the dims being with it. Smoke? mirror? anybody?
