Nearly half a billion dollars in federal money has been spent developing four state Obamacare exchanges that are now in shambles and the final price tag for salvaging them may go sharply higher.
Each of the states Massachusetts, Oregon, Nevada and Maryland embraced Obamacare, and each underperformed. All have come under scathing criticism and now face months of uncertainty as they rush to rebuild their systems or transition to the federal exchange.
The federal government is caught between writing still more exorbitant checks to give them a second chance at creating viable exchanges of their own or, for a lesser although not inexpensive sum, adding still more states to HealthCare.gov. The federal system is already serving 36 states, far more than originally anticipated. . .

Money is no object.
Neither is healtcare, the object is control.
Healthcare.....sorry.
Half a billion? Chump change...
That’s us - taxpayers - chumps - foolish and easily deceived.
Money is no object.
Not when it isn’t their money and not when the goal is total control of the nation’s healthcare system.
No CEO in the private sector would survive such waste and malfeasance. Also, the projects would never get this far along without heads rolling.
Government doesn't belong in the business of business
Massachusetts, Oregon, Nevada and Maryland
arent those...deep blue states?
coincidence?
Throwed away, just like the 535 million shot on green bizness solyndra.
Money is never lost unless it burns completely so somebody got rich... Um
Follow the money..... INDICT!
I am a pro in this field, and I could have written a Fed Obamacare website for 15 million (and profited HANDSOMELY) with a small team of equally-proficient professionals, with the three years originally alotted.
This is criminal.
**Massachusetts, Oregon, Nevada and Maryland **
If you would like more information about what's happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me. I lost my Oregon list when my computer crashed recently, so please send me your name by FReepmail if you were on the previous list.
Right, it’s not a failure if millions of dollars are laundered to friends and political allies.
More Democrat money laundering.
You can bet there is a good share in Kitzhaber’s election fund.
Pray America wakes up
You are correct because, "Socialism Is Legal Plunder" - Bastiat
BIG GOVERNMENT IS CRONY SOCIALISM
At a tea at his house the year before, Perkins had sat beside Justice Harlan Stone, and he gave her a tip. She had confided her fears that any great social insurance system would be rejected by the court. Not so, he said, and whispered back the solution: The taxing power of the federal government is sufficient for everything you want and need. If the Social Security Act was formulated as a tax, and not a government insurance, it could get through. - p.229; The Chicken Versus the Eagle; The Forgotten Man - Amity Shlaes
Pure theft, people need to be arrested
Not with the Feds withholding critical information and changing specifications frequently and at a whim right up to the release date.
That would have paid for a hell of a lot of actual health care.
Instead, it went for incompetent websites for lousy and phoney insurance.
You would think this would anger people, but it doesn’t and wouldn’t, unless they get turned down by rationing boards. And even then, they probably would not know about the waste.
...and the ‘federal exchange’ is a figment of the president’s and these writers’ imagination based on the wording of the law.
