On Breitbart News Saturday, Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon and Editor in Chief Alex Marlow discussed Pope Francis's remarks to the United Nations where he called for "legitimate redistribution of economic benefits by the State," using government and the private sector. Bannon asked guest Austin Ruse, former head of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute and a Breitbart contributor, “Is Pope Francis a Commie?"
"I know he is a Jesuit," Bannon said, explaining that Jesuits sit at the vanguard of the Communist revolution in Latin America there, before asking if "Pope Francis been taken over by liberation theology?” Bannon, who also hosts Breitbart News Sunday, noted that the pontiff had tweeted from his official account a couple of weeks ago that “inequality is the root of social evil.”
Ruse answered by saying that, “I don’t think he is a Communist. I think that he is largely misunderstood.”(continued)

These people (and the Pope is no exception) do not think these things through to a logical conclusion. Seizing the labor of productive people and giving the proceeds to unmotivated people simply worsens the problem. The practice is known by several names, one of which comes to mind - Communism.
I believe in leadership by example. When the church empties its expansive treasuries, THEN they'll have the moral authority to speak on this topic.
Until then, nothing but hollow words.
As the writer said, everyone can do more for his neighbor.
Right, and the pope should lead by example. Empty the treasuries, sell off the vast collections of artwork, unneeded buildings and all the luxuries around the vatican first.
Remember the prodigal son, who reformed only when his support was cut off.
And who is going to be the judge of one's real need? The federal governments?

You’re entitled to your opinion. The pope is living in austere quarters, as you may have heard. Whether otherwise he will live up to the standard you are setting, you can decide.
I am guessing you have an accurate answer to that question.
And what the Pope was endorsing is employing the force of the State to do it involuntarily. There is a vast chasm between voluntary and involuntary “giving”. To conflate the two is perverse.
We already have some redistribution in the USA....
The individual is to be the judge of his own need and then responsible to minister to those needs through hard work and dedication to cause. The small minority of people truly unable to do so are tended to by private, voluntary giving in a free society. Otherwise the society is not free and you will have more of the slothful and deceitful, as we do today.
Every State taxes. The question is what they do with the proceeds. Here in the US, we are a year’s worth of GDP in the hole, and are enriching whom?

I know "austere", I haven't heard that the Catholic Pope was living in austere quarters, I haven't seen the pictures of them, but I would guess they are extremely nice and his service extraordinary.

Only God, Himself. He sent Jesus. Isn't it He Who Francis should be marketing? Hm?
It was a sad turn to see this Pope speak to governments, that in most cases rule their societies, and encourage their theft and give it rationalizing justification.
