They won’t work unless Obama goes up on the roof, right?

(you people are smart, you’ll figure this out)

Do you know if there there issues with their weight? I thought that any upgrades or modifications to buildings on the historic register had to get all kinds of approvals for appropriatemess, engineering, building integrity and architectural studies etc.

So when do I get my own private jet and 30 car convoy everywhere I go?

Next, an above-ground (solar powered) pool with deck and tractor tire planters.

Thus making the White House into the biggest Oreo Cookie ever. Better yet, it’s the Black and White House now.

Is there a Cost associated with this dose of brilliance?

I've been waiting for this item to pop upon FR, in order to comment.

There he goes again!

This incompetent seems to have the knack of trying things that have failed in the past--- and he does it over and over again.
There is a solid reason Reagan removed Carter's folly.
It was an inefficient, costly white elephant.
Who cares? It not his money.

Another gesture of symbolism over substance.

Even if the entire system was donated how does that relate to the rest of us who must pay with our own hard-earned money?

How much did the system cost? Total, materials and installation?

How much will the constant maintenance cost?
How much power will it actually produce?

IN WASHINTON DC??

I can't put into words the disdain I have towards this fake know-nothing POS "president."

Seems like it would be wiser to outfit Michelle with panels...
Just sayin’

Ha ha!
That would double the number of needed panels!

Are these solar panels on the roof? Or beside the White House? Solar panels on the roof are a danger to firefighters...impeding access to a fire and/or contribute to accidental electrocution.

It also creates a serious security problem, discussed in other reports.

Provides too much cover for the next Muslim Mass Murderer attack.
Not that it would be a great loss at present...

That’s somehow supposed to make up for all the carbon expelled and fuel used by his ‘round the world golfing jaunts.

Carter! 1979 - President Jimmy Carter Installs 1st White House Solar Panels

I remember this clearly. It was reported that the panels would never pay for itself. Ever.
Obama is such a pansy. I can see him French kissing Carter in the Closet.

Perhaps we should all campaign for a petition to the White House requesting an audit of his personal Carbon Footprint.

I'll hold my breath, although if we get more than 25k signatures they are duty bound to respond...

Say...
That reminds me...
Whatever happened to this??

Check out this link. Many Freepers probably remember it.
Proudly… REALLY BUSH’S FAULT!!

From the archived web page image…
Expect More.gov was an initiative of the George W. Bush administration. This website has been archived and is posted here as an historical resource. It has not been updated since the end of 2008 and links to many external websites and some internal pages will not work.

Expect More

Perhaps that site has useful insight into this boondoggle?

Wait...
O'Useless eliminated it as soon as he got into office!

never mind...

"Are there issues with weight (of the solar panels)?"

Great question!

Different states and localities have specific codes and regulations that must be followed when determining whether the roof will support the weight of the panels.

The weight of the panels ordered is largely dependent upon how many solar "arrays" are needed to produce the amount of electricity desired.

The weight of a volume of snow as well as the force of wind during a storm or hurricane must also be factored into any installation on a roof in order to forestall roof collapse or the roof "raising up". Likewise the age of the building is another factor. The panels in most cases have to be bolted to existing "rafter" beams and timbers which cannot be weak or inwardly rotting and are in need of replacement.

It would be interesting to see the application for approval for the installation as well as any back-and-forth communications between the local code department and the White House, plus the specifications for the layout and weight of the solar arrays and for the installation.

The age of the White House is 221 years. Of course, numerous reinforcements, repairs, architectural changes and the like have been done rather consistently during the decades.

She could at least pay part of her own way, once she paid down the cost of panels in 20 years or so.
