Here's Why Congress Is Losing 660 Years of Experience("The Tea Party extremists")
ABC News ^ | May 5, 2014 | Ryan Struyk

Before the first Star Wars movie, before Microsoft was founded and before John Paul II became Pope, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., was elected to Congress. And now, after 40 years in the House, Waxman is calling it quits.

But he’s not the only one: A whopping 528 years’ worth of experience is about to walk out the door of the U.S. House of Representatives – the most since 1996 and the second-most in at least four decades. Add that to the 132 years of experience leaving the Senate, and you get a staggering total of 660 years.

When we caught up with Waxman, as well as his longtime coworker from across the aisle, Rep. Tom Petri, R-Wis., to talk about their tenures in Congress, there’s one word they both agreed described Congress today: gridlocked.

And ABC has been around for a very long time as well, and they still can’t get anything right, unless they setup the fraud first, see GM

And they say it like it’s a bad thing! I seem to recall serving in higher office was seen as a short term sacrifice for the nation, not what it has become, a honey pot for leeches to rob the citizenry while becoming multi millionaires.

Very good.

America was sold the snake-oil of democracy with the 17th Amendment, and turned its back on property rights with the 16th.

Absent those two, the subsequent welfare state and loss of freedom could not have occurred.

Freedom cannot possibly return until first the 17th, and finally the 16th are repealed.

That is not something to celebrate. That is a disgrace!

Good point. So 20,000 one day babies have 50+ years of experience based on this model.

I am willing to throw out 435 x n years of fecklessness, tyranny and corruption. Turn them all out. The whole Congress is complicit in breaking the Constitution.

“Gridlock” - Translation: Resistance to the political status quo is rising to an inflection point in changing that status quo.

Prior to “Gridlock” an entrenched political status quo in a duopoly of RINOs and Dims believed they were entitled to their entrenched duopoly and no one should object.

Their complaint about “gridlock” is really the entrenched duopoly saying “how dare you resist us”. Those forming the new inflection point do not belief that resistance is futile, it’s transformational.

I would prefer if elected representative was *not* a career.

It tends to spoil government *of* the people.

Don’t they get to keep their taxpayer funded health care plans instead of being forced onto ObamaCare if they retire now?
