Throughout history, religion has sanctioned and fueled the persecution of homosexuality. That dynamic may be drawing to an end. Polls, clerics, and denominations are shifting. Theology is adapting. Resistance to same-sex marriage is dwindling, and theres no end in sight.
For 15 years, the Ethics and Public Policy Center has hosted the Faith Angle Forum, a regular conference on religion and public life. Several weeks ago, the group met again to discuss current issues. Transcripts of the conference have just been posted on EPPCs website. They underscore the extent of the anti-gay collapse.
The first session, led by papal biographer Paul Vallely and Boston Globe editor John Allen, focused on Pope Francis and the Catholic Church. Vallely, the author of Pope Francis: Untying the Knots, noted that before Francis became pope, he supported civil unions in Argentina....
The conferences second session dwelled on sin. The speakers, Cornelius Plantinga of Calvin College and Ross Douthat of the New York Times, discussed what we should feel bad about. Homosexuality wasnt on the list.... It used to be that people thought of homosexual acts as sinful, he said. Now they think of criticism of homosexual acts as sinful....
The next morning, we had our final session, on the culture wars. Molly Ball, the Atlantics terrific political writer, summarized the trend toward acceptance of same-sex marriage. Forty percent of Republicans and 61 percent of Republicans under 30 now favor it, she reported. So do 57 percent of Catholics and 55 percent of mainline Protestants....
There will always be Christians, Muslims, and Jews who condemn homosexuality.... But in this country, religious resistance is crumbling. Its being overwhelmed by love, conscience, and a God who keeps creating gay kids, even in the most devout families. Over time, He will prevail.

The faggot defended drug rape and forced sodomy.
The girl was not a willing partner.
She still is adamant that Mr. Polanski violated her against he wishes. The only “softening” in her position is that she does not see the point in jailing him now or prosecuting him now for the flight out of the trial.
But then the sex positive agenda seeks to end ALL moral judgments.
More proof we are very close to the end times. VERY close.
I’ve noticed that both a falling away and revival are discussed in the bible regarding those times. To me, it means all those fence sitters will choose a sided. You will no longer be “Christian” because you attend church. You will be Christian because you are a Christian. And your faith will increase as trials and tribulations do likewise. But probably most “Christians” will come down on the other side and be actively against the church.
Thing is, Christians are NOT changing their viewpoint on homosexual marriage. Rather those that posed as Christian are exposing their hand. It will get worse.
I never call them gay. I call them homosexuals.
“We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one’s own ego and one’s own desires...” — Pope Benedict XVI
It drifted that way in Sodom and Gomorrah for some years as well. Then there was some “Godlike backlash”.
Children should be restrained from posting puerile opinions on national forums.
Any group or organization which is not PRO-sodomy DOES NOT MAKE IT AN ANTI-GAY RELIGION.
Gheeez!
How about a barf alert?
It’s only collapsing among hellbound apostates. True Christians will never compromise God’s Word. Homosexuals and their fellow travelers will be wishing for asbestos clothing when God casts them into hell.
Even most Christians who do NOT revere the bible....
You’re not responding on your own thread?
Interesting terminology to describe the Great Apostasy.
My church is not anti-gay, in fact we welcome them as well as every other sinner. We only require that they live according to scripture.
If not the literal end of the world at the very least the world traditional, patriotic Americans know.
I'm almost certain we will see people persecuted and imprisoned for their politics & beliefs in the next 10 years, and it won't be for lacking "progressive" principles.
Theology is adapting
Really?
I don't worry that this moron is right. Instead, I worry that the pendulum will swing in the other direction, and the backlash will be violent when things swing the other way. Scripture is perfectly clear, and I have complete confidence that God will tell us clearly and unambiguously if He changes His mind.
I think he should publish or link to the list for two reasons.
First I would consider it a support list.
Second, by default, every other contributor is a pro-sodomy deviant or supporter -- to be punished by default.
It's a two-edged sword.
What does the “Theology is changing mean”? The Bible hasn’t changed. What has changed is the church. But this is nothing new. All businesses change and adapt to provide what their customers want. If tickling the ears of their parishioners keeps the collection plates jingling, then the churches will do whatever’s necessary. This includes watering down the scriptures.
