*** Oklahoma was using a new lethal injection drug for the first time, and the secrecy surrounding the drugs had caused a protracted argument that extended to the states courts and lawmakers. Branstetter had been there in January when Michael Wilson was killed with a three-drug mix that had been obtained from a compounding pharmacy. Wilsons final words, spoken after the injections: I feel my whole body burning. So she wanted to go to see what was different this time.
At the beginning, the only thing that was different was that the execution was late. At 6:23 p.m., 23 minutes after the execution had been scheduled to begin, the beige blinds lifted up and the witnesses in the next two rooms could see Lockett on the gurney. They didnt know because they couldnt know that the execution was delayed because a technician couldnt find a place to insert the IV, according to Robert Patton, director of the Department of Corrections. That technician looked at Locketts arms, legs, feet and neck before ultimately placing the IV in Locketts groin area five minutes before the blinds were lifted, Patton wrote in a timeline sent to the governor. The area with the IV was covered by a sheet so that witnesses couldnt see his groin, blocking their view of the vein where the needle was inserted. ***
Three minutes later, the violent reaction began, she said. First, she saw his foot kick. Then his body bucked, he clenched his jaw and he began rolling his head from side to side, trying to lift his head up, grimacing and clenching his teeth. He mumbled some things we didnt understand, Branstetter said. The only thing I could make out was when he said man. ***

I am watching the botched killing of my way of life and my AMERICA.
I wonder what it was like watching the victim being buried alive after two shotgun blasts? Why won’t the post write that story? There are people who were there who could tell it.
Looks like justice to me. His victims got no mercy from this scum.
Hey what happened to the war on women? Aren’t the leftists supposed to be cheering this woman killer’s death
The execution was a “near miss”.
In all this, the victim’s fate is lost.
Who stood up for her right to die a humane death?
This guy got far less than what was coming to him.
Perp gets one of two choices:
Original, or
Extra Crisp
We had to have our last two pups put down and man was it quick. Sucked but it was the right thing to do.
Maybe he had enough time to repent? Although it doesn’t sound as if he was really conscious.
Once upon a time, a death sentence and the immediately following death would be a time for a person to come to grips with what they had done, and many repented. Now we don’t believe that’s important anymore.
But it is. Eternally.
I don’t have much sympathy for the man for what he did. As for his “pain” it sounds like the pain of a heart attack. I reacted the same way. The only exception is it was clear I was calling on Jesus.
These bleeding heart b*stards don’t have a drop of sympathy for the victim. Yet they insisted on lethal injection. Now they don’t even want that unless carried out in perfect conditions.
Mike Darancette: good for you.
In other news,.....
it wasn’t botched, the inmate died.
let’s just say it had some unexpected twists and turns that didn’t change anything, in the end.
I saw the same thing 41 years ago. The vet used this. Six seconds.
to quote hillary - in the end, what difference does it make!?!
That was my first thought.
The Washing Post should do a follow-up article titled “What was it like to watch him bury his victim alive?”
Lead poisoning is cheap and effective every time. And when applied twice daily to the head, painless as can be.
Good. I hope he went screaming.
