Washington Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee is not waiting for the state legislature to regulate carbon dioxide emissions, but instead has issued an executive order to implement a cap-and-trade program, eliminate coal power and fund green energy projects.
This is the right time to act, the right place to act and we are the right people to act, Inslee said. We will engage the right people, consider the right options, ask the right questions and come to the right answers answers that work for Washington.
Inlsee argues that more action is needed if the state is to meet climate goals passed by the legislature in 2008. Those goals call for the state to lower its carbon dioxide emissions by certain amounts by 2020.
The governors office is now imposing a cap-and-trade system to lower carbon dioxide emissions in order to meet state goals. Inslee has created a Carbon Emissions Reduction Task Force to design the states carbon trading system. The task force held its first meeting on Tuesday and will give its final recommendations to the governor in November.

The executive order also requires state regulators to work with utilities to ban coal as a source of electricity in the state. Inslee has also ordered the creation of a clean fuel standard to reduce emissions from cars, trucks and other vehicles.
And, of course, no climate plan would be complete without a program to fund green energy projects across the state. Inslee wants state regulators to work with Washington State University and others to create green energy programs and initiatives aimed at increasing solar power despite the states reputation for cloudy days.

Gov. Inslee is insane and so is that clown from the Cascadia Crazies Commune.
Washington State’s beautiful trees need Carbon Dioxide in order to grow, so these aholes want to deprive them of their needed chemicals.
Makes sense if you are a Democrat in Washington State, or Oregon, or California.
To the rest of us sane and rational people, it doesn’t.
1. The Grand Coulee Dam on Washington’s Columbia River is the largest hydroelectric power producer in the United States, with a total generating capacity of 6,809 megawatts.
2. In 2013, Washington was the leading producer of electricity from hydroelectric sources and produced 29% of the nation’s net hydroelectricity generation.
3. Washington ranked 10th in the nation in net generation of electricity from wind energy in 2013.
4. In 2013, Washington had the lowest residential electricity prices in the nation and the lowest combined electricity price across all sectors.
NOW explain to me why we need this executive order, Governor.

My God. Washington State is maybe 2 or 3 years away from being California.
“Washington Governor Imposes Cap-And-Trade Through Executive Order”
I would love to see them try to breach Grand Coulee, the dum basses.
Washington State that is controlled by urban corridor liberals managed to elect a governor who was a do noting member of congress and has the support of the environmental lobby. He took over from Chris Gregoire who believed, as Barack Obama does, that legislative processes are an inconvenience.
He is as insulated as Obama in that our legislature tips his way and the idea of veto powers rescinding his order is a non-starter.
Six years ago this state raised it gas tax in what was sold as a budget cure for deferred maintenance resulting from political budget games that sucked the coffers dry.
If this XO stands the revenue would be huge and the chances of monitoring how it is spent would be minimal.
IMO, any governor that shakes things up like this by EO, should be impeached.
Let the process work. By doing this, he is subverting the charter of the state government.
EOs are supposed to be house-keeping and emergency related.
This is just chicken—— ruthless behavior.
She put him in charge of the Department of Ecology and gave him the power to both make regulations AND enforce them.
Wonderful. This essentially makes them king for a day...
Another ‘rat engineered further step into the cesspool for my old home state.
Sad.
You would be correct. And to top it off when they have to shut the wind mills down because at times there is to much energy for the grid to handle we have to pay for the time the wind mills are down. Also they are ruining the looks of our state and now I saw on the news where they are considering putting wind mills in the National Forest of Eastern Oregon.
Now we know why CONOCOPHILLIPS sold the Ferndale refinery to PETROGAS.
It wasn’t the Ferndalevrefinery that was sold, it was a facility in Tacoma.
Excellent...shove that up their smelly Alinsky.
