Former Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love earned ample support from Utah Republicans on Saturday to win her partys nod for the House and most likely become the GOPs first black congresswoman.

I was here on FR long before January 2009, but I did not frequent Mormon-bashing threads, so I must have missed that.
I am aware that Mormons purport to “baptize” ancestors of Mormon converts, and even of persons who are not ancestors of Mormon converts but whose descendants may, in theory, convert to the LDS church one day. But as I believe that the only true baptism is done in the name of Jesus Christ by the Catholic Church, I pay no heed to what Mormons do or purport to do. You obviously share my opinion that what a Mormon priest does or does not do has no bearing upon your relationship with God, so why should it matter what they do, whether before or after January 2009?
And, more to the point, what does that have to do with Mia Love clinching the GOP nomination for Congress?
GO, MIA, GO! MIA LOVE FOR CONGRES IN 2014! AND MIA LOVE FOR THE SENATE IN 2018!
Mormons only vote for Mormons, which would be a really incisive point if this wasnt a thread about Mia Love, who is ... wait for it ... a Mormon

Exactly...
its because they are Mormons that they will not vote for her..
shes black and shes a woman..
They’ll vote for the Democrat again like they did last time she ran..
the white, male, Democrat...
just because they are Mormons

Thank you for your prediction. Please return in November and tell us how you were correct and every election analyst who gave Mia Love a 99% probability of winning was wrong. And when Love wins with over 60% of the vote, you can explain how she’s actually a white man in disguise.

From your comments it does sound like you did frequent Christian bashing threads..
Nana, SVCW, Elsie, I can vouch for Auh2orepublican. He’s been an excellent FReeper for well over a decade. Ditto for Impy. Their interest in this race and support for Mia Love is just that, it’s not about a dissection of the Mormon agenda (pro or con), it’s explicitly political and nothing more.
I don’t like seeing all this needless bickering between my allies on here. I remember well how you stood up on my side during the attacks by the Willardbots. Impy & Auh2o aren’t the bad guys. Please, let’s all try to get along.

Lady, first of all, if you’re going to quote what I said, don’t leave off the second part of my sentence. You left out: “and even of persons who are not ancestors of Mormon converts but whose descendants may, in theory, convert to the LDS church one day.” Yes, I am aware that Mormons perform these so-called “baptisms” on non-Mormons.
Second, if African headshrinkers place pins on voodoo dolls representing my Christian ancestors, it wouldn’t mean anything to me, because such actions have no bearing on how Christians are received in the Kingdom of Heaven. Similarly, if some Mormon bishop declares that my grandparents now are Mormons, I’d just laugh at the gall of someone trying to claim that lifelong practicing Catholics who are now in Heaven were actually Mormons without knowing it.
If this was a thread about Christians thinking of converting to the LDS church, your warnings would be quite relevant. BUT THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT THE NEXT REPUBLICAN CONGRESSWOMAN FROM UTAH, MIA LOVE, WHO WILL BECOME THE FIRST BLACK REPUBLICAN WOMAN EVER ELECTED TO CONGRESS.
See post just after this one and tell me good guys
Is this her brother-in-law?
I hope it's not her campaign manager!!

I'm a cohort and say she CAN win!
Yes indeed!
I agree with this.
But I also think that a CATHOLIC priest has little bearing as well.
I'm funny that way; having just a High Priest to deal with.
Hebrews 4:14
I was SURE that Romney would beat Obama; but I was wrong.
No one has questioned their conservative credentials; have they?
I'm merely trying to point out that there are OTHER factors that influence a voter other than a candidates record or stand.
And RELIGION is a BIG factor with many voters; on the Conservative side of the aisle anyway.
Hey, I had to do my Rodney King impression (even if that jackass ruined my trip to L.A. in 1992). ;-D
You’re right about what you said there, though. I think the point may have been misunderstood. It will be curious to see what the end results of the general election in UT-4 are. If Mia Love wins in a landslide, the worries about an order coming down to vote for someone further up the LDS hierarchy (White/Male) will be unfounded. If she wins by an unimpressive margin or actually loses, the point will have validity.
I have to say there may be a point to the argument given that Love SHOULD have won by a fair margin in that district and in that year. It would be curious to see what her % of the vote was amongst LDS voters. As for any potential LDS intrigue where this race was concerned, I’ll yield to you folks on that subject.
