The green area you saw there on the map means “General T-Storms”. We’ll see what happens. :-)

Good morning Pro ((HUGS))

Into your rainy season, are ya? Is it slow enough to go for a walk on the beach?

Good luck out there.

Have a sunny, summerlicious day!

Our old preacher at Leonia Baptist Church had a PHD from Yale. He was retired as president of the Florida Baptist Seminary in Graceville, FL. and was simply serving the little church in retirement. They would have Sunday Dinner with us around once a month.

One day they showed up at church with a new Chrysler. It was a gift from their Son who had designed it.

Many years later I saw a program about the Abrams on “The History Channel”. They interviewed a man, Dr. Phillip Lett, many times. It was clear he was the man who designed the tank and was described as that.

Looking at him, I thought that he looked just like our old preacher. I phoned Mother and asked what Dr. Lett’s Son’s name was. She said his name was Phillip. That removed any doubt and there really wasn’t any to start with.

I have looked up the tank on the internet and Dr. Lett is described as the designer of the tank, tho I am sure he didn’t design every part. He was heavily involved in Chrysler’s turbine engine car in the 1950s.

My take on the car was that it was mechanically successful but used a lot of fuel. Interestingly the Abrams used a turbine engine.

Aye, it is in German. It is signed by several girls who give their names and ages. 11 Jahre is 11 years (old).

OK now I know what it is. This soldier took care of several German Children by feeding them etc.

After the war they continued to write each other.

Wikipedia says of the note pictured:

"In preparation for the occupation of Germany, the United States issued occupation banknotes dated 1944, printed by the Forbes Company of Boston. These were printed in similar colours with different sizes for groups of denominations. Notes were issued for ½, 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 1000 Mark (not Reichsmark). The issuer was the Alliierte Militärbehörde ("Allied military authorities") with In Umlauf gesetzt in Deutschland ("in legal circulation in Germany") printed on the obverse."

I think that was an amazing thing for him to do. Has any other country cared as much for their enemies as we have?

Yes, the American soldier was always kind to children.

My Father fed two, a Brother and Sister named Fritz and Ingrid. They were very cute kids and repaid Daddy by getting him a Luger.

After the war, Daddy did not keep up with his. I think the fact that he had four children of his own, (5 after I was born) probably made a difference.
