I’m not sure if that insert photo of actor Robert Brubaker is correct. Doesn’t look much like him, unless he changed rather drastically in later years. I always recall Brubaker in slews of old b&w “Gunsmoke” episodes, in the (small) recurring role of a stagecoach driver. He had dark eyes, and close-cropped but frizzy/wavy, graying hair. Always found him quite recognizable. He was in slews of 50s/60s tv-shows, albeit usually in fairly minor parts.
Read: John 5:24-30
An ancient painting I saw recently made a deep impression on me. Its title, Anastasis, means resurrection, and it depicts the triumph of Christs victory over death in a stunning way. The Lord Jesus, newly emerged from the tomb, is pulling Adam and Eve out of their coffins to eternal life. What is so amazing about this artwork is the way it shows how spiritual and physical death, the result of the fall, were dramatically reversed by the risen Christ.
Prior to His death on the cross, the Lord Jesus predicted a future day when He will call believers into a new and glorified existence: The hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth (John 5:28-29).
Because of Christs victory over death, the grave is not final. We naturally will feel sorrow and grief when those we love die and we are separated from them in this life. But the believer does not grieve as one who has no hope (1 Thess. 4:13). The witness of Jesus resurrection is that all Christians will one day be taken from their graves to be clothed with glorified resurrection bodies (1 Cor. 15:42-44). And so we shall always be with the Lord (1 Thess. 4:17).
I hadn’t heard about the passing of Ernest Borgnine. That was the last of the Wild Bunch...
Hi. Jathy...((HUGD))
Thanks, Galz, for another part to the Hollywood Heroes! It’s
fun to see which of our favorite stars were also American heroes! :)
Thank you!
Good morning, Canteen.
Good morning to our
Military, our Allies, and their families.
Thank you, Star, for preparing the Canteen for todays activities.
I'm really not surprised by the older generation
serving in the military, but
I am surprised to see a few names on this list.
Can't wait to see how the current generation
of artists stack up to the older.
We had a lovely weekend, but a busy one...running the roads
If this keeps up, I'm going to have to take a day off just to rest up.
Plus, my body-clock seems to be on fall time, still.
I'm having a hard time getting to sleep
on Sunday nights...and staying asleep.
Now, I need to make a quick run through the Canteen,
say hellos, then back to the work I left on FRiday.
But please stay right where you are.
Chat up the military or a family member.
No need to fret...you know I'll be back!
The FR Canteen is
Come in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS
