On Wednesday Tracy and Mary Finney of Marietta, Georgia were met by a police officer outside their childrens public school and informed they were trespassing on school property because they opposed the schools process of testing all children.
The Finneys, whose children attend West Side Elementary School, had decided to opt their children out of Georgias state test, the CRCT.
~~~snip~~~~
Meg Norris, an organizer of United Opt-Out Georgia, told Breitbart News she is shocked at how the mandates to test children are being enforced in Georgia.
Its happening in schools all over Georgia, Norris said. Even children who are autistic must be tested.
Because of federal mandates, they are putting children through this, she continued. One child missed the first day of testing and the entire class was refused ice cream, leading to that child being bullied by his classmates.
Norris explained that this year is the final year Georgias CRCT is to be used. Next year, the test is to be replaced by the Common Core-aligned PARCC assessment. They say the CRCT was aligned with Common Core, she added, but I dont see any evidence of that. As far as I can tell theyre teaching using the Common Core standards, but using the old CRCT to test the children.
Norris, a former teacher, said she taught the Common Core standards for 18 months and could see what it was doing to her students. She added that Common Core has become a major issue in the elections this year.
I just wont vote for any politician who supports the Common Core standards, she said.
Obviously, you know nothing about how the taxes are collected for schools. It is called property taxes. So, you are willing to lose your home (legally) if you decide not to pay your property taxes?
I rent for many reasons.
My point is meant to slap the "masters" in the face.
It is way past time to reign in this crap!
My Brother lives in County A and one of the Property Lines is also the County Line between County A and County B. For 10 years County B kept sending Him Tax Theft bills. He kept explaining this to them to no avail. He finally had to get the County Surveyor and some Dipstick from the Tax Theft office out there with maps and a Survey Crew to prove His location.
So, does that mean you are only going to pay a portion of your rent? That should just go over like a fart in a diving bell with your landlord. Have you not figured out your rent payment also pays the property taxes?
Hello, McFly!
That makes you about as smart as those ghetto cruisers who rent their fancy tires and wheels unless you are someone who never stays in one place or job for more than a couple of years.
I will agree that the “massers” need a slap, but maybe you need to think this one through just a little, or better, get a few cups of java through your gullet before jumping off that roof you rent.
Oh, my. I can see that Melissa Harris-Perry wants kids to be raised in an environment where they have no foundation, no support. I can’t imagine that such an environment would lead to anything good.
The social structures that exist are there for a reason—millions of years of evolution have created these structures because they were the best way to ensure the propagation of the human race. Trying to rear kids in an unnatural environment can only lead to aberrant behavior. But I guess that is what the left wants, to impose their individual maladjustments on all of society, so they don’t personally feel so abnormal.
I’ll reply in order:
No, well aware of that.
Drop the insults.
drop the getto cruiser crap, correct.
Don’t drink coffee, I’m wired enough.
Have a nice day
It sounds to me as if mommy and daddy were worried little darlin’ would not pass and make it to 6th grade. Or maybe little darlin’ might not qualify for TAG (Talented and Gifted).
The officer was probably one assigned to the school. IOW, he is at the school during most, if not all, of the school day. Had the principal called LEO on the parents, it would have been in the article.
He did not meet them with the end of his gun. They had a cordial conversation. A meeting took place.
IOW, the officer was doing his job. He met the parents outside the building to asses their mindset. Learned they were not a threat and a meeting took place.
“Its like we need another Bundy Brigade every 10 minutes.”
No, we don’t. We just need to remove the people at the top who want this in place.
Don’t fight the peons. Go after the top people, they will back down after a few of them lose their jobs or get sued, or are kicked out of their neighborhoods.
G’day, sir.
Precisely the point!
For a brief moment, in a New World inhabited largely with the bravest and most capable, Freedom lived.
As the Founding Fathers well knew, Freedom was an anomaly, existing rarely and lasting only briefly - always falling victim to human greed, envy and lust for power.
Freedom exists no more, period.
License to teach school was a smidgen of Behaviorist dogma amonst a sea of collectivist thought (particularly union-think).
Nice to see you retained your wisdom.
We went to a debate last night for those running for state school superintentent. GA kids are subject to 48 testing days in a year. We had our minds changed by one Dr Mary Kay Bacallao whose credentials are unimpeachable. She also teaches a class on how to teach at Mercer. She became involved because her child was not allowed to opt out of the ridiculous tests. She’s done a ton of research on the money and time being wasted and it’s available on her website. She’s not as smooth a talker as some of the others, but I hope she gets enough exposure to change a lot of other peoples minds along with ours.
It's not about enabling individuals to rise to their highest potential. That would be racist against the low-achievers.
It's about smashing everyone down to the same level of misery in the name of "social justice."
What did you think of Jester? I saw the candidates a couple month ago at a GOP breakfast event and she seemed the only one addressing fiscal issues.
Fixed it, above. Follow the money. The school would likely lose grant money for each kid who opted out, which is why they're so heavy handed about it.
She was my choice until I listened to Bacalleo. She’s certainly not as good a speaker as Jester, but what she says IS mind boggling and she DOES address fiscal issues just as well if you listen to her.
"If Linda has a bucket with 3 apples, and Johnny has a bucket with a dozen apples, how many buckets are there ?"
Basically the test is designed around the lowest common denominator (and I don’t mean math wise).
Students are prompted to follow ‘patterns’ instead of understanding the problem and getting the answer.
For instance:
8+8+8+8+8 = 8 x 5
2+2+2 = 2 x 3
See, they aren’t asking the kids to figure out what 8 times 5 IS. They only require them to count up HOW MANY of the repeating numeral there are.
The claim is that the kids that ‘pass’ the test understand ‘equivalency’ from this, but the truth is that they only learn to see the ‘pattern’ of the test and follow it.
It is no different than this:
#+#+#+#+#+# = # x 6
@+@+@+@+@ = @ x 5
Two buckets
