The Drudge Report always has its fun with misuse of images. But World War III is no laughing matter. In an attempt to paint Russia as hurtling us towards World War III, Drudge shows a picture of troops marching through the Ukraine, wearing Soviet-era uniforms. But the picture is out of context.
The picture is, in fact, from Odessa. Yes, there are significant numbers of Russophones. Yes, many of them may favor secession. Yes, some of the secessionists may have the same kind of romanticism for the Soviets that their Ukrainian neighbors have for the Nazi Banderites. But that's not what this picture shows.
This is a re-enactment of the liberation of Odessa from the Germans during WWII. Despite the popularity in some extremist corners of the Nazi-aligned Banderites, who exterminated a population of 80,000 Poles in one city alone, the Ukraine has always celebrated the day. Those are the uniforms worn by the people who fought off the Nazis during "the Great Patriotic War." The Soviet Union wasn't just Russia: From Trotsky to Brezhnev to Gorbachev, many Soviets were Ukrainians. And despite the horrors of communism, the Ukrainians have annually celebrated those who fought against the Nazis.
Both WWI and WWII both started under lesser situations than what Russia is doing, so it’s not really alarmist or an exaggeration. Either we allow Russia to expand without consequence, which potentially may include all of Europe because that is what the Communists wanted or, at some point, we are going to have to say, “No more”.
After Drudge went all-in for Mitt, I learned to cast a slightly skeptical eye toward his work. HOWEVER,,let me say

I’d believe a Drudge report over any other report every single day of the week, 24/7.
Drudge, too, has his preferences. It’s all good. Gotta take it for what it is.

Nope. It’s the EU that’s pushing us to war by continued expansion to the East. Russia is saying no and the EU wants us to muscle them, economically and militarily.
No worries, Obama is sending our troops to Nevada to save some turtles being stepped on by cows and ranchers.
Russia will have to wait.
Perhaps Drudge is just echoing what many Freepers and others have been claiming for some time now....

In the interest of clarity, it should be noted that the “WWIII” headline came from the title of the Daily Mail article linked to the headline and not from Drudge.
I’ll take “Nazi Banderistas” vs Soviet Leninists any day of the week. Is Ukraine trying to annex Russia? Does Ukraine have the ability or any historical record of trying to conquer the world? Not to my knowledge. In act, it’s spent centuries trying to become independent of Russia. Russia, on the other hand, exists to conquer the world.
you are correct... we have our version of the Visigoths and Goths in our country. I’m just hoping to see the populace rise out of the ghettos of DC and sack/pillage the capitol and the feckless quislings that are our so called “leaders”. I’m getting popcorn and some soda pop to watch that.
