A new online poll found that Americans just are not interested in the the World Cup, which is the world's top sporting event.

According to the poll, "two in three Americans do not plan to follow this year's tournament," only "7 percent said they anticipated following it closely," 86 percent of Americans "said they either know nothing or only a little bit about the World Cup, and more than two-thirds did not know Brazil is the 2014 host nation."

Every play doesn’t start that way. If you don’t know US sports you shouldn’t comment on them.

“Go watch an 18 year old club game in your area between good teams and get back to me.”

So you want us to watch a kid amateur team play a kid amateur sport? Man that sounds . . . boring.

‘Maybe that says more about the decline of baseball than anything.’

Well, soccer is the metro-sexual sport. More metros, more soccer.

“The rise of soccer in this country closely tracks the rise of the gaystapo. Lots of people have come out of a closet in both instances.”

I just can’t help but believe that the rise of soccer in America is somehow linked to the decline of culture in America.

soccer is all work and so little action it becomes boring

it’s as if in a game of basketball 98% of the game was chasing each other back and forth across the court and 2% of the time someone got within range of making a basket and less than 1/2 of 1% of the time did a basket get made

booooooooooooooring

for me golf is even NOT as boring as soccer

There is a difference between growth in people playing it, and people watching the World Cup en mass.

For a variety of reasons, its not a popular spectator sport in this country.

You need to be quiet now.

Seriously.

In the first place, the quarterback rarely touches anything but the center's hands. In the second place a long-snapper is involved in about 25% of plays, not just the "shotgun formation." Free kicks don't involve a center at all.

So, apparently, the reason you think soccer is so wonderful is because you don't know anything about a real sport.

Because there’s nothing more exciting than watching the Jaguars and Browns play a 9-6 Field Goal fest.

I’ll be watching, and so will Andrew Luck and Kevin Garnett who are both big Chelsea fans.

Is that what the homos do in soccer? Because it isn’t what’s done in football.

The difference is, watching two crappy teams in the NFL like the Jags and Browns is still more interesting than watching the best soccer teams in the world.

Kobe Bryant is a huge soccer fan as well, could you imagine if he had devoted himself to soccer instead of basketball how dominant he could have been?

Question for you, did you ever do anything yourself athletically, just wondering.
