A bird native to Arizona and other western states could be listed as a threatened species by the federal government.
The Yellow-billed Cuckoo lives along the Verde, Colorado and San Pedro Rivers in Arizona. It also can be found at the Gila River and Rio Grande in New Mexico and the Sacramento and Kern Rivers in California.
Federal officials said the birds habitat is shrinking because of dams and other construction projects on the rivers, plus cattle grazing.

I can easily believe that wildlife are threatened by the Feds.
My first thought, too..
What private lands will be confiscated to save it?
(and p.s... see my tagline)
there are some yellow bellied cuckoos in az
All ye lowly, collateral-damaged, Feudal Serfs bow down to thine arrogant Feudal Lords at the Bureau of Feudal Land Management, (BFLM), who own the land beneath thy worthless feet!
Commune-Style Obamantion is now the Law of the Land, - - - FOREVER!
FORWARD!
The Fish and Wildlife Service proposed listing the bird as threatened in October.
That came as a result of an agreement with the Center for Biological Diversity to speed protections for the bird and other species.
yellow-billeds do share their family trait of nest parasitism, laying eggs in other birds’ nests and leaving their young for those involuntary foster parents to rear..
The October proposal to list the cuckoo as Threatened came after many years of advocacy by wildlife protection groups. A broad range of groups including Audubon, the Sierra Club, and Defenders of Wildlife
And the feds killed how many federally protected tortoises? Nothing more than another federal power grab using another stupid animal as their shock troops.
I have tried them and can assure you they are worth saving.
My gosh, they are threatened by “cattle grazeing”
how timely.

Water.

“Their breeding habitat is deciduous woods from southern Canada to Mexico. They migrate to Central America and as far south as northern Argentina. This bird is a rare vagrant to western Europe.” — Wikipedia.
So, yes, their breeding habitat includes those river valleys, but is in no way limited to those valleys.
aren’t they nesting on Reid’s property? Just askin!
Ping! This is how the EPA wants to deal with Fort Huachuca.
They have big solar bird frier’s in that same region. So they aren’t that concerned about birds.
George Will says we are about to revolt over big govt.
Lots of county and state level in-fighting over the Verde River Watershed.
Sounds like the FedGov wants a piece of the action.
I interviewed a developer an in an off-the-record talk he told me, (roughly), Im developing 21 acres of woods. If I discover an eagles nest I have to stop everything. My debt service is ($x/week) and I can tell you to the day when Ill be bankrupt. Ive got dozens of companies under contract and were talking about thousands of jobs and maybe other companies going bankrupt too. All over an eagles nest. Now Id never do this, but the fine is $15,000 for disturbing the nest. So, over the weekend somebody comes in, chops down the tree and kills the eagle. Do you realize it is possible to relocate an eagle and its nest? There are licensed people who do that. But I dont have that option. Am I going to let an eagles nest destroy my fathers company and put hundred to possibly fifteen hundred people out of work probably not.
You can repeat this story about almost any protected species. Listing a species has become the lefts favorite anti-capitalist scheme. We should probably do away with the list entirely. I read that 99.99% of all species that ever lived are now extinct. Im sorry about that, but something else will take their place.
Mmmmm. Yellow-Billed Cuckoo. Slathered in BBQ sauce.
