Conservatives frustrated with the direction of the country think Dr. Ben Carson can change the course by winning the 2016 presidential race.
Now they just have to convince him.
The group, RunBenRun.org, a super PAC, has already raised $4 million toward a Carson bid for the Republican nomination and has collected 200,000 signatures for a petition to get him to join the race.
John Philip Sousa IV, the groups national chairman, said Tuesday that members are working Carson on an almost daily basis, sending along petition-drive updates and hundreds of clamorings for him to run, received through letters, Facebook postings and other forms of communication.
I dont like the direction in which the county is going, said Sousa, the great grandson of the late American composer John Philip Sousa, who wrote such iconic songs as Stars and Stripes Forever and Semper Fidelis, the official march of the U.S. Marine Corps. Carson doesnt whine like some other Republicans. He brings a solution to the table.

“...gain some political experience...thin political resume...”
It is one thing to run for an executive office, quite another to know how to govern. Leaving all other flaws aside, Obama is exhibit number one.
Agree how many people will support a candidate with a thin political resume and not research the candidate. People fail to research those with thick political resumes too. Besides, a thick resume will always allow informed voters to find something not to like in a candidate.
“...so desperate to prove that they arent racist that theyll back any black who suggests hes a Republican”
Having ten years past experience in party politics, I have seen this first hand. I have also seen a few [pick your aggrieved class] use this to make a go in politics. In fact, there are narcissists, opportunists, and schemers from every demographic that gets into politics because of the power, the ego, and other reasons. It does not matter the party. A good primary system helps weed out some of these people from getting office.
High moral character is an essential ingredient when trusted with governmental power. I have met and worked with some of these people too. Some got elected, some did not because they were not in the right place at the right time.
I don’t know much about Ben Carson, but he appears to project good moral character. If he wants to try a political career, he already has name recognition - he could run for high office in his state first rather than Congress.
I totally agree.
I like Ben Carson. Don’t always agree with him, but then I’ve found some disagreement with every politician. Guess I’m looking for perfection and there isn’t any in any candidate.
One thing noticeably absent from Dr. Carson’s writings and speeches is foreign policy. What would he do about Russia, China, Iran, North Korea? Would he be tough on our enemies or would he bow down to them like the present occupant of the White House?
I’m not sure Dr. Carson is ready for the presidency. Perhaps a cabinet post or a position of adviser to the president would be more suitable at this time. Maybe with experience he will be a good president. He’s not there yet.
Agreed. I won’t vote for someone who is moderate on 2A. That’s a deal breaker for me.
I’d be the first to agree the Dr. Carson needs more “seasoning” and exposure to the rest of the country. He is, after all, a product of the environment in which he was raised and has lived, i.e., a big city. He needs to learn about middle America and expand his understanding of this country.
You should have more information about his religious creed before you let loose with “kooky”. You could read up a little and understand what Seventh-Day Adventists actually believe and the contributions they have made to this country particularly in the areas of medicine, nutrition and education.
However, I agree with you, he is likely to take a lot of flack for his religion. What a shame that is.
Or Ed Rollins!
I’ll tell you one thing - I’m not looking forward to primary season here at FR. Things get really ugly and I’m not exaggerating.
Especially when the preference-bots show up and blast every thread with their propaganda. Then they attack anyone who posts anything in opposition. Those attacks get personal.
Many, including many FReepers, revert to alinsky-est tactics and personal attacks on other posters.
Give it up. Donald Trump?
Is this right after the Freepers world was back Scott Brown as the next messiah? Or after they were calling Rove a magnificent bastard after the ‘04 election.
Freepers don’t really have the best crowd sourced candidates.
Ben Carson is not Collin Powell nor Herman Cain nor Condi Rice. No more than I am Joe Biden because I'm the same color. I see the individual. He is Ben Carson. I see him based on the principles he articulates. His color is irrelevant to me.
Ben told a close friend of mine he will not run, says he can do much more from the sidelines.
Then we all end up retaliating like two year olds! I promise myself that I’ll disappear this primary season.
Huh?
Carson is smart and interesting, but I would never vote for him be cause of his position on the 2Nd Amendment.
I would vote for Allan West without any hesitation.
My preference would be Ted Cruz.
I read the article you referenced at “www.examiner.com/article/ben-carson-black-conservative-or-centrist-fraud”. I’d like to make a point, which will likely infuriate many of my fellow conservatives, but I believe still warrants discussion. Mr. Carson stated It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and Im afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it. At least for me, this is a very painful statement because I, along with the rest of you, reflexively cringe at that statement because I am generally unwilling to bend an inch when it comes to my 2nd Amendment rights. On the other hand, as someone who was born and raised in a New York City slum, and now live far away amongst the responsible, civilized and law abiding, I am painfully aware of a very difficult dichotomy: When I (must) on occasion pass through the neighborhoods of my youth, I am overwhelmed by the prevalence of their “Thug culture”, swaggering around with half dropped pants, emulating their gangsta rapper hero’s. Witnessing this I can’t help but wonder about MY OWN eagerness to support THEIR 2nd amendment rights! Of course, as soon as I return home, it all seems like a bad dream. The CULTURE imposed on these people by their left wing elitist masters does not allow for responsible, law abiding gun ownership. I know it’s horrible to say that, and believe me, I am NEVER giving up my guns, but I can’t really blame Mr Carson for verbalizing what I, and I’ll bet millions of other true conservatives think daily, but dare not speak!
I’ve lived in NYC and am still in the region.
Better IMO for NYC to deal with its crazy people than to violate the 2nd Amendment. But the issue Carson completely loses me on is amnesty, whereby he says of course he’d give citizenship to all the illegals who are here now.
The man is coldly rational. There is no BS. He is a brilliant speaker with thoughts when implemented would carry the country back to it’s roots. He makes a wonderful personal point about his road from nothing to top of the heap and then makes a strong devastating political point. The Rat never feels the death stab until it is way too late.
He says that there are several able candidates and if one doesn’t catch fire, he will pray on it. It is my belief that he is running for Health Care czar. He has the program worked out and ready to be implemented. He has been working with unstated others to develop the program. Health care czar ( Sec Dept of Health and Human Services) might not require a brain surgeon for the task, but when the best brain surgeon in the business volunteers, why not take him up on the offer)
Corporate America is promoting him to tackle the Obamacare disaster. My thought is that realizing the disaster must be cleaned up for their own survival, corporate forces are behind him to allow the Presidential race as a stage from which he can be heard delivering his strong healthcare message. No sane Republican President would refuse him the health care position.
Regarding Amnesty, he favors closing the border first.
That is racist...... Dr Carson is your better
Take some time and listen to him less the racial overtones.
