Canada has socialized medicine. The US has the Second Amendment. Neither country will accept the other's stumbling block.

The NWO wants a North American Union made up of USA, Canada, and Mexico. That is why the Mexico/US border will not be closed or fenced....it’s online just look up

North American Union Map and the NWO plan for major shipping highway through Texas from Mexico to Canada.

Do we want that...h%ll no, but that’s the UN and NWO PLAN.

No thanks.

Personally, I'm hoping the United States breaks apart.

Their football rules are not compatible with ours!

Why? It is the only safe foreign country we can visit with out flying.

In some ways it is less foreign the Louisiana but it is the French influence like Quebec.

We share the same values...

Wrong right from the start. Canada was mostly settled by English speakers who wished to continue being subjects of the king. A comparison of the US constitution and the Canadian constitution shows a vast difference in values. And then of course there is the large population of Quebecers, who don't even share the values of the rest of their own countrymen, let alone us. This is nothing but a multiculturalist's pipe dream.

Canada would be nuts to accept this.... Besides when things are horrible beyond words here, it gives us a place to escape to...

I like my Canadian neighbors ... I really don’t want the filth from the US to infect their country more then it already has

of course, I also like the world having lots of separate countries... it’s makes the job of the one-world people a little tougher

I don't see the megastate getting any bigger.

It is possible that British Columbia might get together with Washington, Oregon, and northern California to form Cascadia or Ecotopia, though I wouldn't bet on that either.

For all that, say, New England and the Maritimes have in common, the further you get from the border the less aware New Englanders are of their neighbors to the North. I don't know how things are in Michigan or Montana or the Dakotas, but I'd suppose most Americans don't give much thought to Canada.

Also, nobody wants to be the tail on somebody else's dog. Alberta won't become the rear end of some red state America. I'm not even sure that the Dakotas would go along with Alabama and Mississippi in some new country.

Toronto wouldn't want to give up its importance in Canada to become just another US city, and if Detroit or Cleveland or Buffalo joined Canada, they might come to resent Toronto and Ottawa more than they resent New York and Washington now.

Since when did Canadians start talking about applying for statehood?

Cause that is the only “merger” i ever see working.

I married a Canadian.

While such an international union is...interesting...on a personal level, I strongly recommend it be avoided on a national level.

The USA was born of violent overthrow of empire rule. Canada was born of polite dissolution of governmental control, while retaining monarchal oversight. The origins make a difference.

The first merger is to be formed of the NeoEuropa states from Maine down to Maryland. They must be purged from America and ceded to East Canada west including Ontario.

The second merger is The Left coast from Mexico north to British Columbia. . Those states must be purged and ceded to West Canada. The red counties of California, Oregon and Washington might be allowed to join the new American Union

The third merger includes those states in the middle that merge with Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Deetroit, Northern Indiana and Chicago might also be purged.

Isolated Minnesota will have to be tolerated and the moonbats urged to move east.

Texas will be come the Capitol.

I didn’t even have to read the entire article. The flaw in the thinking is revealed here:

>>>>We share the same values, lifestyles and aspirations. Our societies and economies are becoming similar in significant ways.<<<<

As an Alaskan, I’ve spend a fair amount of time near and in Canadian territory. The author is (to be polite) clueless. I would say that we share SIMILAR values, lifestyles, and aspirations, but there are differences both subtle and obvious - starting with Canadian identity, which is forged from the existence of a powerful southern neighbor. Most Canadians that I’ve known see their identity in counterpoint to the United States. There’s a quiet pride in things Canadian that are better than their American neighbors. They’re consistently looking for differences. Or as a guy in British Columbia once told me, “Yeah, we’re like the States if the streets were clean and the people were polite.”

Although I’d love to see a Tim Horton’s in Fairbanks or Anchorage.

And anyone who sees the current conservative government in Ottawa and thinks it is converging must be smoking something tolerated in Vancouver. Sheesh.

We’ll merge with Mexico before we merge with Canada. In fact, we’re half way there already.
