A dangerous new form of a powerful stimulant is hitting markets nationwide, for sale by the vial, the gallon and even the barrel.
The drug is nicotine, in its potent, liquid form extracted from tobacco and tinctured with a cocktail of flavorings, colorings and assorted chemicals to feed the fast-growing electronic cigarette industry.
These e-liquids, the key ingredients in e-cigarettes, are powerful neurotoxins. Tiny amounts, whether ingested or absorbed through the skin, can cause vomiting and seizures and even be lethal. A teaspoon of even highly diluted e-liquid can kill a small child.
But, like e-cigarettes, e-liquids are not regulated by federal authorities. They are mixed on factory floors and in the back rooms of shops, and sold legally in stores and online in small bottles that are kept casually around the house for regular refilling of e-cigarettes.

Or that there might be a shred of freedom left somewhere.
And then, when it is discovered, a breathless courier delivers the news to the man or woman who's job it is to editorialize (in a so-called 'news' story) against the joy or the freedom.
My analogy is accurate and I’m making no such claim. If you’re hitting the nicotine you’re hitting the nicotine. You can switch to a delivery method that doesn’t cause as many problems, but you’re still addicted to nicotine and it causes plenty of other problems.
But you’re still getting plenty of not terribly good for your heart and many other side effects nicotine. I’m not anti-smoking, I’m just eyes open. Switching delivery systems really isn’t quitting.
Well, with friends like those, no wonder you are so fervent on the drug question :)
...without all the carcinogens and the awful stink.
That’s very true, but at least it is an improvement. For some people, quitting completely just isn’t going to happen, so if we can reduce some of the health risks for them, that may be the best they can hope for.
His caddy (I called it an aircraft carrier, it’s big) was his baby too
Because they want to kick cigs, plus it’s cheaper.
The e-cig people are pissing off three powerful lobbies/interests - Big Government, Big Tobacco, and Big Pharma. I like them!
The left hates them because they LOOK like cigarettes, just like they hate toy guns and poptarts shaped like guns. Thinking about guns or cigs is a thought crime.
See post number 32.
It’s all about the taxes. The E-cigs are a treat to a
revenue stream.
“Why would anyone use that stuff?”
If you are addicted to nicotine, which millions of people are, then it is an alternative to smoking cigs to get your fix. With the e-cig at least you don’t get the 2000 or so other chemicals that go along with the real cigs.
Yea, I know it’s still not a good idea. It can be a good way to ween oneself off cigs. Nicotine is a horrible addiction, believe me.
“If I click the link will the New York Times go on to tell me how many thousands of people have been killed”
Actually, they will! One woman actually injected the stuff! How damned stupid can you be? Other sicknesses, like in kids, have come from them drinking the stuff! Not sure how they got past the initial taste to drink enough to make them sick though.
It’s like anything else that can be dangerous if not used, or controlled properly by responsible people.
I’m one of them! It’s still a battle but I haven’t had a cig since Nov 16.
“while looking around to see who is noticing, More stupidity.”
Your not one of those, nose in the air, I don’t smoke and
neither should you types are you?
I smoked Camel filters for 10 years straight , 2 packs a day ,I was a total addict . Without doubt , the stupidest thing I ever did in my life .
Im sucking on my KangerTech vaporizer right now as I type, ...
You must have some strong teeth!
I have one too, but I can’t type and keep it in my mouth at the same time! Be right back, have to take a puff.
Ahhhh. That’s better.
Funny, you sound like a leftist who believes in state control.
I like them too.
I like to smoke when I drink .
no more less than caffine
