Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert Papp said that in 2010 Obama told U.S. military leaders to accept his push for gays in the military, and that if they didn't, they could take the "opportunity to resign [their] commissions."
Papp said these things in a video BuzzFeed obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.
The video shows a speech Papp delivered to Coast Guard Academy cadets during which he was asked how he would deal with enforcing an order with which he didn't agree. He used the story of his 2010 meeting with Obama as an example of how service members' duties can be compelling and conflicting with personal desires....

This guy should have publicly resigned in 2010.
Why is it that all these politicians who want gays in the military never served in the military?
LOL. So you believe the Obama administration has been forthcoming on Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS scandal, Obamacare data, etc.? You don't have to be a conspiracy nut to believe that Obama has been less than transparent and that he lies and deceives. Give me a break. If there was damaging info about the impact of gays or women serving in the military, I have no doubt it would be suppressed.
So can I, very easily. But I have to deal in facts. The fact is that the policy is that homosexuals can serve openly. Nothing will change that short of a presidential order. The fact is that I treat my Soldiers as equally as I can. We have standards of conduct. If a guy grabs a girl's ass in the office, he's just as toast as the guy who grabs another guy's ass. Period.
What about two guys or gals making out openly in one of the clubs or in the field? The fact is that the vast majority of people are not gay. Some people have religious beliefs about such aberrant behavior. We are trying to make something normal that is abnormal. My point is that there will be friction and problems created whether you try to be fair or not. It is just another factor that can damage unit cohesion and discipline.
We can lament the change all we want and demand flag officers' heads for "allowing it to happen" (like they had a choice in the matter), or we can work to make sure those people understand that they are indeed nothing special in the slightest and they'd better toe the line with every other Soldier around them.
Using such logic, we should learn to accept Obamacare and any other program the political elites and central planners want to force down our throats. Just following orders is the path to decline and bankruptcy as a society. Defining deviancy down is what is happening. And what is even worse, we are defining what was normal to be deviant.
That’s exactly right. That’s why we wear the bars and stars. The stars give one the authority/responsibility to defend one’s command. And if one is not prepared to combat illegal/improper orders then it’s time to go back to the farm. It makes my teeth hurt to hear these weaselly flags explain why nothing can ever be done.
The military has ALREADY been turned over to gay activists.
Weird, I don’t recall any “crossed paths”, but you need to stop dragging personal grudges and old threads around with you and stalking freepers with your old arguments.
Hard to believe that this Romney post (post 8) set you off to this degree, but it would sure be nice if you would focus on the post, and respond only to it, and not to some long forgotten thread of the past.
Mitt Romney:
“”One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.””

They are also purging Christianity.
In ancient Greece there was an elite unit that was encouraged to be all homosexual, the Theban Sacred Band. How’d that go? Not too good! Phillip II, Alexander the Great’s father, wiped them all out in the battle of Chaeronea (338 B.C.).
That is the only example I need to know that gays in the military aren’t a good idea.
My wife and I have cut off all family members who voted for obama. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s permanent.
And after time and time again not following your orders you eventually get frustrated and call one a “fagot”. Now, you’re fired!
I wouldn’t doubt that at all about Romney. He certainly acts a little feminine. Watch him walk. And the way he cocks his head to one side and smiles. Yeah, I know. I’m prejudiced.
I’ve walked away from several jobs because of the way management was going to try to use me to hurt fellow employees. I told them they could find someone else to be their snake.
What would these people say if obama gave an order to nuke Texas? Should the officers resign? Or should they stay and try to “change things from within”?
Barry is a traitorous fag.
The admirals and generals were told to “accept” HIS push for gays in the military. In other words, don’t disagree or you’re ruined.
They know he’s gay. It’s an added bonus for them, especially watching the public have no clue.
And none of them had the stones to resign.
It took 174 posts before we learn the snake eater is an active duty captain. I understand why he’s not in agreement. However, I don’t think you ever said ALL officers should have resigned. It’s the higher ups we’re talking about.
I’ll also say I believe it would be a lot easier to reprimand a male soldier who slaps a woman on the ass than it would be to reprimand a gay soldier who slaps a man on the ass.
I agree they should have resigned. But I also know the republican “leaders” would have stood against them. Especially WAR HERO McCain.
