Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert Papp said that in 2010 Obama told U.S. military leaders to accept his push for gays in the military, and that if they didn't, they could take the "opportunity to resign [their] commissions."
Papp said these things in a video BuzzFeed obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.
The video shows a speech Papp delivered to Coast Guard Academy cadets during which he was asked how he would deal with enforcing an order with which he didn't agree. He used the story of his 2010 meeting with Obama as an example of how service members' duties can be compelling and conflicting with personal desires....

It is a front, like a mafya business front of prostitution seeking legitimacy by setting up a shop location. Except this time it is your shop and the military that they use to conduct their nasty business.
They go in showers and shop and then recommand and pimp behind people’s backs. Gay networking and entrapment is a sickness.
Well, they are at least taking a wide stance on the issue.
Well plenty of people think they know better than that “God’ guy. I mean they must. He clearly stated what he was pretty much about in 10 commandments and people have outgrown that.
It’s a new era. Who needs antiquated things like morality ethics and integrity? “Winning” matters in all things. At worst, just go along with whatever. If you cause problems, that is bad. It distracts fellow travelers on the road to Utopia. Who needs God to tell them that voting for people that fund abortion with their own cash is bad? Why would they be shocked if he does not answer their prayers? Why should some old book stand in the way of progress? CLEARLY God doesn’t have a clue.
Modern man has evolved past the need for all that oldthink. And just look at the paradise we live in thanks to ditching all that baggage! We are the people we have been waiting for!
Oh wait...
Upper brass in the military are no different than anyone else who has had a long job career with one company. They spend years of their life getting to the top in anticipation that someday they can/will retire (yes comfortably). That being said, which one of us, having spent years on the job would not want to protect that long term investment in our future? (Probably not many).
To make matters worse, your a-hole boss says, “This is my policy, take it or leave”. You consider your options, go against the grain (your beliefs) and follow the bosses orders or, leave and risk loosing what you have spent years building. IMO, its called “Blackmail”.
Good grief the election is over. You won.
Move on will ya
Would you really want every moral person in the military to resign?
We saw what that wide stance got us in Crimea, a foot getting cut off.
Tough one. A resignation is surrendering the shop. I would when the rot is so deep as to make zero differences and then go John Galt contracting.
Yes if that means adhering to ethics and morality. What remains will quickly implode. Then we rebuild.
Do you really want moral people corrupted and destroyed by the ethically flexable? One cannot maintain ones oath and violate it simultaneously. Thinking we can has led to all manner of ethical lapses and thus our current situation. Morality is binary. Something is good or bad. Building a house on a foundation of shifting sands always results in a collapsed house.
Are you really that naive or is this all an act?
In this case it would be surrendering and turning over subordinates to evil. By remaining in their position they can at least reduce the damage done. Most of the enlisted people and young officers cannot resign BTW.
The problem isn’t these admirals not resigning. Its having a POTUS who would make such an evil statement.
more anti Libertarian finger pointing? - ....oh surprise. /sarc
No to both. I look at things as they are. Which you should try sometime. By all means. Tell me how it is you think one can me moral and accept immoral action at the same time.
Don’t give me excuses. Give me hard facts in how one can adhere to one’s oaths and beliefs while ignoring their violation all around them and being forced to violate them ones self..
I’ll wait. While I do I’ll try wrapping my head around how and why many ‘conservatives’ so quickly look for ways to circumvent the obvious. Maybe it’s just what it looks like. Maybe some people just don’t like the idea of good and evil.
If every officer resigned when they were given an order they didn’t like there wouldn’t be anyone left.
You’re focusing on the officers. They are not the problem. Obama is the problem.
Perhaps you think its good for the forces to be led by pro gay officers is a good thing.
This is not a matter of refusing orders they do not like. This is existential level stuff with national security implications as we see with the little homo now serving time in Leavenworth over his little fabulous fit and demanding a sex change. It’s about a military with record levels of man on man sex assault.
This is way beyond not wanting to go police a flight line or some common gripe.
I think it’s best for their to BE be gay officers. Yes Obama is the problem. But as long as he meets zero resistance he will only grab more power and destroy more of what we love. That only stops when we start resisting it.
The founders put more than careers out there. They put their lives. Some died for their beliefs. Kinda makes the sacrifice a bit more telling that some people today are more concerned about their retirement than even SPEAKING OUT against this insanity doesn’t it?.
ARGH!!! NOT TO BE GAY OFFICERS!!!
Talk about a typo...
Take you moral relativism soomewhre else. You clearly have an agenda, I suspect something here.....
I have heard similar stories.
