If you listen to the President, and other supporters of Obamacare, you might get the impression that the reason why tens of millions of Americans go without health insurance is because these people have pre-existing conditions, and health insurers are too mean to cover them. The truth is quite different. Less than a million Americans lack health insurance because of a pre-existing condition. And it turns out that a good number of Americans are uninsured not because they are sick, but because they are convicted criminals.

Does anyone know what people who were unable to obtain insurance for this reason have done in years past, especially if they couldn't pay cash and didn't have collateral assetts?

Just wait until ‘Convicted Felon’ becomes a race. You won’t be able to ‘discriminate’ in employment or housing.

There is wall-to-wall, indisputable and rigorously documented evidence that the ACA never met ANY legal and necessary protocols for ‘lawmaking’ as are traditionally observed, required and practiced in the history of the United Stated of America.
We have a piece of legislation that NO ONE read before passing and which is so badly articulated (I think THIS was inentional), fraudulently represented, unworkable and ill-conceived that not EVEN its supporters can honestly comprehend its definitive and final (if any) configuration!!!
Americans and the US economy (never mind our social stability) will be held hostage to the continuous evolution of the ACA into infinity! It will become the incessant and absolute means with which all politicians may blackmail and rob taxpayers with perfect license!!
How else are these folks going to earn a living? With Medicaid, criminals can claim that they have back pain, neck pain or fibromyalgia and receive prescriptions for narcotics which can fetch a decent price on the street.
Then, we will have more crime which will necessitate more police, equipment and more prisons. Now that’s a great way to stimulate the economy!
