Democratic strategist James Carville predicted the next GOP presidential nominee will come from Texas.
"It's either going to be Ted Cruz or Rick Perry," Carville said Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."
Cruz is a freshman senator from Texas and a tea party favorite, and Perry is serving out his last term as Texas governor. Perry ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 but came up short after a few fumbles on the campaign trail.
But Perry has advantages, Carville said.
"He's been around the track once, and he can raise a bucketload of money," Carville said of Perry. "He can accidentally hit his speed dial and raise $5 million."
Carville said said Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker all have a chance.
Paul's father, former Rep. Ron Paul, ran for president in 2012 and got 21 percent of the vote in Iowa.
"You got to almost assume that Rand Paul can build on that, at least duplicate that,"

Cruz would be a great nominee, but the GOPe will do everything they can to prevent that.
And you’ll suddenly see the left again become “interested” in a candidate’s natural born citizenship eligibility to be president.

Inquiring minds want to know—was James “the Snakehead” Carville happy about this prospect, or was he holding out for a RINO like Jeb Bush or Rubio?

Perry hit a homerun at CPAC. I could easily support him.

I have no idea why the establishment Repubs are trying to get rid of their base....you would never see DEMS do that.

Pray that it’s Cruz!
Perry can give a rehearsed performance.
Cruz knows what he believes and can articulate it well.

The fact of the matter is, those GOP establishment ARE NOT CONSERVATIVES at all. They claim they are, but they’re no where to be seen when we need them to take action. They merely play lipservice. The division is merely between conservatives and those who pretend to be

RICK PERRY for PRESIDENT
Sponsored by Merck

My concern is how these guys come off on TV. We saw Perry's poor performance in the debates. I know he blamed the pain meds, but I have never seen him do well in debates here in Texas either. Doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good president, just that he may be preceived as 'spacy' on TV. Rand Paul projects a sort of goofy persona, IMO. He has a weird quizzical look on his face when he speaks. Cruz, however, comes off as supremely confident, is fast on his feet, and seems to thrive on adversity.
Just remember how these guys are going to be portrayed on SNL, Jimmy Fallon, etc in addition to MSNBC, CNN.

Serpent-head Carville actually believes, like Bill Clinton, that he can sink a Republican candidate with a poisonous endorsement.
Or else Carville believes a Tea Party candidate would lose even more disastrously than a McCain or Romney.
Bulltinkies, of course Carvile wants another RINO to run. He has acknowledged in his twisted way that ideology trumps other factors & wants a hard-left Democrat running in 2016.
A hard core conservative Republican ticket is his worst nightmare.
