Rand Paul wins 2014 CPAC straw poll, Ted Cruz finishes a distant second
The Associated Press ^ | 03-08-2014 | Stephen Dinan

Sen. Rand Paul demolished his competition in the 2014 Washington Times/CPAC presidential preference straw poll on Saturday, winning 31 percent of the vote -- nearly three times the total of second-place Sen. Ted Cruz.

Mr. Cruz's 11 percent was still a big improvement for the freshman senator, who won just 4 percent in last year's straw poll. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson was third with 9 percent and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was fourth with 8 percent in results that signal growing discontent with the GOP establishment in Washington.

Indeed, CPAC voters now have an unfavorable view of Republicans in Congress, with 51 percent saying they disapprove of the job the GOP is doing on Capitol Hill. Just last year the GOP had a 54 percent approval rating, and in 2012 they held a 70 percent approval rating.

Rand Paul is not a libertarian. That’s his father. Rand is a CONSERVATIVE.

“To conclude, many libertarians’ lukewarm reception of Rand Paul stems from his approach to these issues. He differs from his father in being less ideologically pure, more aggressive on foreign policy, and more openly socially conservative. None of these are traits that will win him greater support among libertarians.”

Same as Singapore, New Zealand and other countries which encourage skilled immigrants. I just visited Singapore and it makes USA feel like a third world country. Very prosperous, low taxes, low crime (they hang drug dealers pronto) and superb infrastructure. At the airport there had to be over 100 PC’s available for people to use with free internet access. No littering anywhere. Their unemployment rate is near 1% (mostly job switchers) because they have no unemployment compensation from government. The taxi ride from the ultra modern cruise terminal to the airport was about 15 miles, lot of it through an underground tunnel which was brightly lighted up throughout. The overground part was covered with pretty flower plants on both sides and the median strip.

Yeah, for president of Canada maybe. I like Cruz for Senate Majority Leader. Any Cabinet position he wants. I would vote for him for president or vice president, BUT... He is not eligible for either office. What is it about *****CANADA****** that you don't understand.

I get it. You like the guy. I like the guy. The Constitution and founding fathers could not ever envision a president that was born in a FOREIGN country.

He will not run. The Dems would ridicule him right out of the race. The American people want an AMERICAN as their president. The Constitution INSISTS on it.

Indeed, his (Rand Paul's) father, then-Rep. Ron Paul, won the straw poll twice on a similar libertarian-minded message, though he struggled to translate that support into votes when it came to primaries and caucuses.

GOOD!!! CPAC can choose the little punk all they want, but, thank God he still has to win the votes of the American people in the Primaries; which he WILL NOT do. It would be easier for me to forgive Rand Paul for raping a nun easier than I can forgive him for endorsing, and campaigning for, Mitch "The Bitch" McConnell. I will never forgive him for that, and I will never vote for the little political whore. NEVER!!

Rand Paul is Winning the Drudge Poll as well.
_____________________________________________________________
Don’t get too excited folks. Don’t you remember that in 2012 every poll that was ever taken, at an event or online, was won by Ron Paul? Anybody remember? That’s because the Paulistas know how to win online polls and polls taken at events. They are young and high-tech with a Paulista Network that spreads the word at the speed of light and Paul wins. Rand Paul will NOT be the GOP nominee for Prez in 2016. Relax.

Whoever runs MUST be eligible. I don’t care if my father, brother, mother, best friend, or pastor were running. If they were not Article II, Section 1, Clause 5, Vattel 212 natural born citizens, I would declare them to everyone as ineligible to the office.

I will continue to support the Constitution in this regard until the Supreme Court says otherwise and then push for a Constitutional Amendment to remedy their error.

After a great deal of study on this subject, I have concluded beyond any doubt, that the founders intended for the president, because of his duties as command-in-chief, to be born in the country by two citizen parents. No exceptions other than those alive at the time of the founding, which does not apply today since all of them are long dead.

I’ve worked several Iowa caucuses...If the Ron Paul supporters were as organized as they claim to be, they’d have pulled off a surprise win there.

They aren’t good at mobilizing voters. They use their internet networks to win online polls and small events.

Being a citizen and qualified to run for president, Cruz will do just fine, he will also easily win against Paul, with conservatives.

The Bush administration won some concessions regarding chewing gum in the Singapore paradise.

“In March of 2004, following the United States – Singapore Free Trade Agreement (USSFTA), Singaporean laws banning chewing gum were revised. The ban was lifted, only partially, to allow the sale of chewing gum considered to have health benefits. This includes products such as dental-health gum, and nicotine gum to assist people who want to quit smoking.

These chewing gums can only be sold in pharmacies, and consumers must provide name and ID. Pharmacists who sell the gum without collecting the required information can be fined up to $2,940 USD and jailed for two years. The penalties for violating restrictions on chewing gum in Singapore, such as fines, Corrective Work Orders, and jail time, are often considered severe by outsiders.”

None. They encourage only skilled immigrants. That should be Our policy here. There is no such thing as too many skilled workers. I just came back from visiting many countries in SE Asia and was impressed how strict they all are in controlling their borders. Singapore was exceptionally strict. But they do encourage foreign workers who are needed in various skill levels. Those workers are given work permits for a definite period of time. Only the highly skilled such as doctors and engineers are encouraged to stay permanently.
