NASA now acknowledges what NBC Bay Area's Investigative Team first uncovered last year--that the government agency has been effectively giving a price break on jet fuel to a private company.

And that is how?
I think that reflects their mission quite adequately.
I sense that nasa acting as a distributor...of goods which we the taxpayer have funded may not even be legal.
The first thing that came to mind when I read it was ‘Teapot Dome Scandal’.

Hell, they didn’t even give us velcro. Here’s a tidbit about the origin of velcro. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velcro
Maybe it was stale..............................
Hey, Obama, how's that "millionaires and billionaires" thing goin' for you?
NASA politics aside, understanding and exploration of space is extremely important for countless reasons.
Human civilization is only a few thousand years old and can be gone in the blink of an eye if we don't master space.
Also, IMO space is far more weaponized than the public knows. There is likely a quiet arms race going on between the USA, Russia and China. Hence the secret robotic shuttles NASA is sending up and anti-satellite tests by other nations. Space weapons can send down unstoppable attacks anywhere on earth instantly. Would you prefer to cede control of space to the Russians or Chinese?
IMO, NASA is equally if not more important than the military.
NSA rather than NASA is what I would expect.
Then again, it’s all Fedzilla.
Doesn’t nasa pay Russia tens of millions of dollars every time they send US astronauts up to the “international” space station? Oh, yes, they are accomplishing many, many productive and useful things there. What a sick laugh!
your stupid NASA is doing global warming research, that's right researching a hoax to enslave us. look up hansen , one of the most rabid and prolific global warming alarmists was a NASA “scientist”: 15-Year-Old Byrnes Outsmarts NASAs Global Warming Alarmist James Hansen http://newsbusters.org/node/13282
your stupid NASA is not mastering any space , it's doing fake research to enslave us
you trust government , the ultimate evil . you are not a conservative but a collectivist
The fundamental political conflict in America today is, as it has been for a century, individualism vs. collectivism. Does the individuals life belong to himor does it belong to the group, the community, society, or the state? if it belongs to the state then the individual has no right to own guns nor even property or a house.
there are 2 groups of people conservative and liberals. democrats and republicans. but really its a battle between individualism vs collectivism. Im telling you all every single democrat is a collectivist and they are driving us to a state where an individual will not even be allowed to own a house nor property much less guns. but its the same principle : private ownership.
democrats/liberals/progressives or whatever they call themselves are just collectivists which = also marxists/socialists/communists
Individualism is the idea that the individuals life belongs to him and that he has an inalienable right to live it as he sees fit, to act on his own judgment, to keep and use the product of his effort, and to pursue the values of his choosing. Its the idea that the individual is sovereign, an end in himself, and the fundamental unit of moral concern. This is the ideal that the American Founders set forth and sought to establish when they drafted the Declaration and the Constitution and created a country in which the individuals rights to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness were to be recognized and protected.
Collectivism is the idea that the individuals life belongs not to him but to the group or society of which he is merely a part, that he has no rights, and that he must sacrifice his values and goals for the groups greater good. According to collectivism, the group or society is the basic unit of moral concern, and the individual is of value only insofar as he serves the group. As one advocate of this idea puts it: Man has no rights except those which society permits him to enjoy. From the day of his birth until the day of his death society allows him to enjoy certain so-called rights and deprives him of others; not . . . because society desires especially to favor or oppress the individual, but because its own preservation, welfare, and happiness are the prime considerations.1
Individualism or collectivismwhich of these ideas is correct? Which has the facts on its side?
Individualism does, and we can see this at every level of philosophic inquiry: from metaphysics, the branch of philosophy concerned with the fundamental nature of reality; to epistemology, the branch concerned with the nature and means of knowledge; to ethics, the branch concerned with the nature of value and proper human action; to politics, the branch concerned with a proper social system.

it would be a shame if it got too far past its best if used by date and had to be discarded
I'm against nearly all aspects of big government but military is necessary to defend freedom against the power of vast collectivist armies and superweapons.
Also, despite the politics and corruption, we managed to follow and even touch comets in several missions. We are getting better at landing and operating robotics on distant bodies. These skills are crucial to defend humanity from space objects.
Guns should be in the hands of the people but what can they do against orbital weapons and nukes? What can individuals do against planet-killing space rocks?
You need massive collectivist programs to get the resources to defend against such complex threats.
It will take an act of God to bring DC back into Constitutional shape. It can happen.
NASA is not the military .
you trust government . you are a collectivist
private contractors developing weapons systems for the military is different from a gov agency like NASA that does muslim outreach and global warming propaganda
