Washington Redskins backup quarterback Kirk Cousins told NorthPointe High School in Grand Rapids last Friday that if he ever had an openly gay teammate, he would welcome him on the team and try to help him find Christ.
...
"Now, there are a lot of teammates in my locker room right now who may not have a homosexual lifestyle, but they have sins, too. They're not perfect. So I don't say they can't help us win. Nobody's perfect," he said. "To that degree, we'd welcome him into our locker room and say come help us win, and hopefully I can love him like Jesus and hopefully show him what it means to follow Jesus."
Not all members of the Washington football team would be comfortable with a gay man on the team, some players anonymously told CBS D.C.
"I think some guys would kind of shy away from him a little bit maybe three or four guys," the anonymous player said. "But for the most part he'd be accepted."
Another player said that despite what his teammates might say to the media, it may not be reflective of their actual sentiments and feelings.

Thanks for this. Kirk Cousins has guts. God bless him.
you got that right.
If it’s not a pop culture, PC way of thinking, your F’ed
Same thing that happens to any sinner. If he truly 'finds' (actually it is the Great Shepherd who does the 'finding') Jesus, he finds Him as Saviour and Lord. The sinner will want to please the Lord, and the Holy Spirit will help him overcome his sin. He may stumble along the way, but he will overcome. He will shed more or his sin nature and adopt more of the nature (imperfectly on this side of the grave - but to some degree) of his Lord.
1 John 3:2-9 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
“OK, so he finds Jesus... what happens to his gayness after that?”
Let’s let Jesus handle that. Fixing people is kind of His specialty.
A few hours later, he was found badly beaten and covered with a rainbow flag in an alleyway near Dupont Circle, with no memory of how he got there.
Best of luck to him. For me, I will no longer be
watching the National Fairy League.
You can draw it up now: The atmosphere of the locker room allows this intolerance because of the intolerance displayed toward American Indians, etc.
Watch....
He is exactly right. That’s his number 1 job. It is my number 1 job, to help those who practice homosexuality, and those who practice heterosexuality find salvation through Jesus Christ.
This guy clearly is grounded in his worldview.
Wait - is he inferring that homosexuals are sinners?
The NFL isn't gonna' like that type of talk....
I think the rush to bury Tebow showed something interesting. There are many black players who talk about God and Jesus all the time and nobody minds. Then you get one high profile white player say the same things and he generates massive press and becomes unemployable because of "the circus" around him.
So I think it shows that the NFL doesn't take black players seriously. They pat them on the head and chuckle like they would at a toddler who asked says something silly. Only worth worrying if a white player says it, then you need to take it seriously.
His gayness is only a propensity for that type of sin.
Like my alcoholism, and philandering, and all my other wrteched behaviors I had before Jesus healed me.
"Heal me and I shall be healed, save me and I shall be saved" (Jeremiah 7:14)
How dare anyone think that butt sex between men is anything but a higher form of spirituality. /s
GOOD FOR HIM!!!!
RE: Lets let Jesus handle that. Fixing people is kind of His specialty.
That’s the problem... many people who say they have found Jesus also say that gayness does not need fixing.
See this big, historic church in new York City for instance:

When I saw the headline I naturally assumed the Redskin QB to be RG3. Don’t know so much about Cousins. As far as “NFL Heretics” go he will burn more easily than RG3 would have.
Amen.
You don't say! Why might players think they have to keep their feelings to themselves when discussing openly gay players? Could it be the fear of bullying by the media?
