After dropping his push on immigration, Rubio is seeking to rehabilitate his image with much of the GOP base by falling back on his staunch conservative ideology while engaging in a calculated effort to broaden his domestic and foreign policy portfolio. Hes becoming a regular fundraising presence on the campaign trail and plans to play a big role in a handful of key midterm races this fall.
A contingent on the right will never forgive him for backing a bill offering a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and his critics say he jettisoned the plan strictly to preserve his political standing. But in interviews with numerous GOP leaders and influential conservative activists in early primary states, his new push seems to have won over one-time skeptics who are now more open to a prospective Rubio candidacy.
Rubio, who plans to make a decision on whether to run for president either later this year or in early 2015, denies he dropped the immigration push for political purposes. But he acknowledges that his role in the immigration push took a toll on him politically.
Im sure there are people who are unhappy with what I did on immigration and will never be supportive of me again, Rubio said in an interview in the Capitol last week. But by and large, I think if you look at my approval ratings in different metrics that are out there, I feel like many of my supporters maybe disagreed with me on immigration and disagreed strongly but they understand that Ive been involved in other issues that are important for the country.

He’s a documented liar. No second chances for documented liars.
Looks like Marco got his diploma from the McGrahamnyn School of Selling B.S. to Conservatives in Election Cycles.
Hope he folds it in five corners, and...
A ‘toll’ on his standing. Imagine that. Suggest that we give INVADER FELON CRIMINALS a shot at Amnesty and it’s a ‘toll’.
FU Rubio. You can change your tune, remain silent - whatever. You haven’t or won’t change your heart, and this is why we conservatives have turned on you. Think about it.
Not buying it.
Conservatives are logical by nature. They’ll always tie Rubio to schemers amnesty deal and the dopey eight
He can forget it like he forgot to drink water in between two lengthy highly public speeches, the first one on spanish to his unassimilated friends whoever they were
It takes blind nerve and serious tone-deafness to run as a Tea Party candidate and then come straight out of the gate with Amnesty.
It’s really sad that he is that stupid.
And by stupid I mean like a goat is stupid.
Best way to put it.
Marco, you need to apologize, yes apologize for being snookered by the democrats and their RINO toadies in the Senate.
You are young and you were naive.
Simply say “I was fooled once but NEVER AGAIN!” and you will win back a lot of conservative support.
With that said, it is true that immigration needs a lot of reforming especially the awful parts left standing by the Ted Kennedy 1965 immigration reform.
BUT THE TIMING IS NOT NOW!!!
When will be the correct time?
When Tea Party conservatives control the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, and the Supreme Court stops bowing before the ‘Chicago Way’ and begins to respect the ‘American Way’.
That pretty much sums it up.
He has already shown he is not a man of his word. RINO, I will not vote for him should he run for President.
Too wet behind the ears, too naive, to RINOish.
Pass.
Marco, I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER trust you again. You showed us your true colors and you will betray us again should you have the opportunity.
Rubio has sold his integrity and soul very cheaply. Ambition and sweet words in his ear motivated his betrayal.
DO NOT TRUST THIS DUPLICITOUS MAN—EVER!!
Why is it that no matter how passionate and wound up Rubio is said to be, he never sounds really angry or strong to me? Even that anti-Castro speech he have a few days ago sounded much less impassioned than what I would give, and I’m not close to that issue. There’s something too soft about his demeanor and voice and his somewhat muffled pronunciation to be intimidating. And I want an intimidating tough president. I certainly don’t want one who is holding the back door open for Central America.
You could be right but I like the way he sets the record straight on Cuba and Venezuela.
He may be redeemable but it’s entirely up to him and how well he redeems himself.
I would be a 100% rubio fan if he removed himself from politics altogether.
Pifffff on Rubbieoh.
Not interested.
The dude is a zero.
