A U.S. appeals court on Wednesday ordered Google Inc to remove from its YouTube video-sharing website an anti-Islamic film that had sparked protests across the Muslim world.
By a 2-1 vote, a panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday rejected Google's assertion that the removal of the film "Innocence of Muslims," amounted to a prior restraint of speech that violated the U.S. Constitution.
The plaintiff, Cindy Lee Garcia, had objected to the film after learning that it incorporated a clip she had made for a different movie, which had been partially dubbed and in which she appeared to be asking: "Is your Mohammed a child molester?"
Representatives for Google could not immediately be reached for comment.
Cris Armenta, a lawyer for Garcia, said she is delighted with the decision.
"Ordering YouTube and Google to take down the film was the right thing to do," Armenta said in an email. "The propaganda film differs so radically from anything that Ms. Garcia could have imagined when the director told her that she was being cast in the innocent adventure film."
The controversial film, billed as a film trailer, depicted the Prophet Mohammed as a fool and a sexual deviant. It sparked a torrent of anti-American unrest among Muslims in Egypt, Libya and other countries in 2012.
That outbreak coincided with an attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya. U.S. and other foreign embassies were also stormed in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

If the actor signed a release this is a horrible decision. Documentary and news producers frequently mislead participants as to the ultimate position and message of the final product. Under this reasoning most of Michael Moore’s movies could be censored. This is nothing but government censorship.
Yet muslims are complaining about a Katy Perry video and we all know that isn’t going anywhere.

Maybe so. IP infringement is the bigger matter to me. Would the video been ordered to be pulled if there wasn’t an infringement? Or, put another way, if the was an IP infringement and the video was not “anti-Islamic,” would it have been pulled?
I do know that YouTube pulls non-offensive videos all the time for Copyright Infringement, so I’m not jumping on the “prior restraint” bandwagon, even if the decision was filled with phrases that support pulling it because it offended Muslim slime.
Garcia “made” the video, whatever that means, and presumably did not sign any release. This appears to be simple Copyright Infringement. I don’t know why Google resisted it.
Anti-Jewish/Israel and anti-Christian are still safe to view there.

This is media propaganda disguised as a news article. Notice it’s all to support the administration’s narrative of the film causing the embassy attack.
What this world needs is a good, reverent Sasha Baron Cohen film on the life and times of Mad Mo. Maybe a musical. Maybe a catchy title like “Springtime for Mohammad”.
Digging into the boilerplate, it appears the producer of Innocence of Muslims ripped-off somebody else’s material.
Making this a simple copyright case. Nothing to see here.
The funny part is that this video has propagated all over the place, so to order YouTube to remove it will accomplish squat.

Political decision by the court ? Perhaps. But not the ruling.It is what the ho’s reporting probably under the venue used (editor’s) direction of what the courts ruling was.That caused you to draw that inference your making of its decision.
Very likely an unintended consequece of the ho propagandizing the decision. Because it falls back to the regime alas also includes the courts which might not have been involved. If it wasn’t a political decision is a learning session for the courts to remember
What difference at this time can it possibly make!
