Yet even the great Thomas Sowell and our friends at the WSJ are going after Senator Cruz, the latter labeling Cruz as The Minority Maker and tagging him as the leader of a rump kamikaze caucus. Notably, in suggesting that Senator Cruz is leading the GOP to minority status, the paper wrote:
Were all for holding politicians accountable with votes on substantive issues, but Mr. Cruz knew he couldnt stop a debt increase the House had already passed.

Ronald Reagan is somewhere shaking his head. He knew a rump kamikaze caucus when he saw one. He described them as the fraternal order Republicans. And he knew that this kind of establishment politics is exactly what had made the GOP a minority and kept it there until he came along.

Simply put, Ted Cruz like Ronald Reagan before him understands what it takes to make a majority. And hes doing it. Over the vociferous objections of the same kind of people who kept warning Republicans that if they listened to Ronald Reagan they would get clobbered. Which is exactly why Ted Cruz is being greeted as a hero.
Ted Cruz is in the process of making a new Reagan Revolution, the Cruz Majority. On second thought, maybe he does he needs a food taster when he dines with GOP leadership.

I didn’t know the Spectator still existed.
Read the tagline.
Go, Ted, GO!
rump kamikaze caucus= GOPe
The WSJ is for amnesty for illegal immigrants, and they have been for a long time. So, it’s no surprise that they are attacking Senator Ted Cruz, but what’s going on with Thomas Sowell attacking Senator Ted Cruz?
Pods
There’s a lot of buzz about Sowell. He was trending late last night on Twitter, along with @Kiev and @Ukraine.
Michael Meved, who I rarely listen to anymore, was trashing Cruz. His reasoning is that McConnell is a patriot and forcing him and a few brave self-sacrificing other Republicans to have to vote for the debt increase instead of letting the rats own it completely was a destructive trick Cruz pulled on the GOP that accomplished nothing but satisfy Cruz’s ego.
Personally I don’t totally understand why Cruz did this but I figured he must be wanting to expose RINOS...I guess. That being said....I trust Cruz more than the others - but that doesn’t mean I understand what he did.
It’s easy to understand. TRUST.
The last two presidential elections were lost because the demographic needed to put the GOP over the top sensed a certain dishonesty in the ranks of the republican leadership; the groups that can win elections stayed home because they DID NOT TRUST the candidates. They stayed home.
There is now definitive demographic proof that Romney lost because he failed to bring out the Perot bloc of blue collar voters and they number more than 6 million.
So it’s easy. Build trust at every level which is what Ted Cruz is doing.
OK..I get that. Cruz is definitely genuine - not beholden to the finger in the wind.
Thanks!
Hmmmm. Is anyone with any sort of pulpit defending Cruz???
I have nothing but respect for Thomas Sowell. I’ve never disagreed with him before. In fact, I trust him so much, I wonder if he is trying to make Sen. Cruz be more careful. I don’t know. Grasping at straws.
Mr. Cruz: "Lay on McDuff!" ( from Shakespeare's "MacBeth")Beat the tar out of those RINOs, send them into the dust bin of history!!
Ever really listen to what the “hold your nose and vote” proponents are saying to us?
The one argument, the main argument is something along the lines of “we can’t change things if Republicans don’t win elections”. ANY Republican. RINO, establishment, big bidness amnesty, traditionals, and on and on.
Somewhere in there are what a friend of mine used to call K-Mart Republicans decades ago (that was before Walmart. Normal people with a job who actually worked, went to church, attended parades, patriotic, loyal and had conservative values and believed in the constitution.
Today, the establishment Republican Party listens very little to those WalMart Republicans (I’ll update the phrase). They only pretend to listen to them at voting time. The rest of the time they’re off taking money from Big Bidness (CoC) to wrangle amnesty, or they’re taking Karl Rove’s pack money to make Karl money, or they’re just up there in their plush offices, their Senate dining rooms, their gyms, their barber shops, their saunas working hard for the peeps.
That ‘working hard for the peeps’ generally results in a rash of complicated trickery with Cloture votes followed by show votes that appease those stupid WalMart Republicans.
Collectively (with two or three exceptions at least in the Senate) they are makin’ deals - part of a Gang of Whatever, mavericks. They bluster and bristle at young upstarts like Cruz who really does care about the WalMart Republicans. And, they really get apoplectic when somebody like Cruz exposes their show vote regime.
These ‘Republicans’ the proponents want us to vote for will listen to anybody across the aisle or otherwise - EXCEPT those Americans (WalMart Republicans) that are getting taxed, regulated and controlled to death by this government while their Senators appease away their rights day by day, deal by deal.
McConnell and the Republican Leadership WANTED to raise the debt. THEY WANTED IT! They also want to be re-elected (McConnell especially).
The problem is that in order to close off debate/amendment on the clean budget hike bill (no amendments), it takes 60 votes. That meant some Republicans would have to vote for Cloture. McConnell certainly didn’t want to do it; he wanted Republicans not running in 2014 to do it. But Cruz’s exposure of this scam by filibuster essentially forced McConnell to vote yes, which he didn’t want because it sends a signal to his constituents that he’s for more unchecked debt.
So the Cloture vote passes, and now McConnell and every other Republican will vote no on the plurality floor bill. Only needs 51 votes to pass.
I ask you this. McConnell and all the other 10-12 Republicans who voted for cloture had a chance to kill the bill, or at least change it and they did not. Why? Also, what good was his eventual floor vote of NO?
Cruz wasn’t doing what he did for ‘ego’ or any of that. Cruz was being an American and exposing those RINO traitors for what they were.
We pray for Sen. Cruz and other patriots who are vilified for their courage every day. It’s a lonely road, but God has blessed us throughout our history with men who have walked that road for freedom.
we all know the Dems’ fear him, just the fact that he is hispanic makes him a threat.Once he runs and more and more of the “Uninformed”see him perform,WITHOUT A TELEPROMPTER!, they will like him.Cruz will also take a good chunk of hispanic votes. But of course,MSNBC will just assume that being his is Mexican, already disqualifies him for being President.
McConnell had made a promise to the American people that he would not allow the democrats to push through a clean blank check debt bill.
he thought he could pretend to fight it by simply voting in favor of unanimous consent to bring it to the floor where it would be assured of passage by the democrats and all the republicans could then lie to their constituents by claiming they fought against it. It was a lie and a ruse. Ted Cruz was not going to play that game and allow the RINOs to run on a lie.
What Cruz did took a lot of courage. What McConnell and Cornyn did was an act of cowardice.
You can't win a war when your Generals are afraid to fight.
