SUNBURY — Nineteen-year-old satanist Miranda Barbour admits to killing Troy LaFerrara of Port Trevorton. In a prison interview Friday night, she said that she considered sparing his life until he said the wrong thing. She also said LaFerrara was one of dozens of such victims she killed in the past six years.
Barbour, with her husband, Elytte Barbour, 22, of Selinsgrove, has been charged by Sunbury police in the Nov. 11 fatal knifing of LaFerrara. She requested an interview that was recorded by the Northumberland County Prison on Friday night.

I would say, from a piece I read earlier, that she “admits” to killing the one man and “claims” to have killed others.
I don’t know if there is any evidence, at this point, that she’s killed anyone else. My guess is that she hasn’t, but I could be wrong. Hope I’m right, obviously, but I’m sure they’ll check out her story.
So far there is zero physical evidence she killed anybody else.
Not saying her story is impossible, simply that Occam’s Razor indicates that her story being a lie is more likely than it being true. We should wait for evidence before taking it too seriously.
I’m sure authorities are checking out her story; however, this has to my skeptical mind the whiff of Henry Lee Lucas, who claimed to have murdered a couple hundred people. He also claimed he was part of a Satanic cult called “The Hand of Death”. Texas Ranger Phil Ryan figured Lucas was responsible for no more than 15 homicides, though some police sources think Lucas’ body count could be around 40.
His partner Ottis Toole was finally ID’d as the killer of Adam Walsh.
Until bodies start turning up, I’ll stay safely skeptical. I’m not saying she didn’t do what she claims, but until there’s solid physical evidence, well......
It has been rumored that Satanists often kidnap or lure in homeless people to kill as they will not be missed.
Well, I suppose the Devil is in the details.
If Satanists vote, I wonder which party they prefer? Hmmmmm?

I’ve heard that. The “outcasts” are easy prey for serial killers, as they figure no one will miss them. Street prostitutes, the homeless, etc.
Usually it doesn’t attract the attention of LE until the body count starts racking up, or the murders are committed in spectacular (albeit gruesome) fashion, like Jack the Ripper, the Yorkshire Ripper, Robert Pickton, the Zodiac Killer, etc.

IN my years of life, that has been substantiated, in 4 of the major cities that I have lived.

You’d be surprised. Some may vote Republican. Some may vote Libertarian. Some don’t care at all.
If the question was raised in jest, that was a silly notion.
Are any of these satanic cults real? I mean cults that would be killing people, not idiots dressing up in costumes, I’m sure those are real. (Not to minimize how messed up worshiping the devil is, even if it is just dressing up in costumes.)

They are considered ‘training grounds’.
America is dealing with people that do NOT hold the loving, compassionate, filling-the-heart-on Sunday-morning, if no other time of the week, people. They are disassociated, or as was made a joke in the movie “Arsenic and Old Lace”, mercy killings since there is no one there for them in their senior years. There is no guilt, no shame, no fear of reprisal, since their mindset accepts no outer judgments.
I was a dissociate. It took a lot of work, and years, to learn how to care. Try wrapping your mind around that, dear reader.
That’s a good question. There’s lots of idiots - mostly teenagers - running around in black bathrobes thinking they’re a bunch of badasses.
There are LaVeyan Satanists (Church of Satan) but this sort of thing doesn’t strike me as “their style”.
There could well be some underground circuit of satanic cultists - nothing really surprises me, but I confess to being somewhat jaded and cynical. David Berkowitz, the Son of Sam Killer, claimed he was part of a nationwide Satanic cult, as did Henry Lee Lucas. How much credence to lend to such stories is debatable.
There was the whole “Satanic Panic” of the 1980s, triggered by the McMartin Preschool Trial, but that turned out to be - quite bluntly - media-driven mass hysteria.
Isn't this usually correlated with childhood abuse?
I once worked with a contractor who was a nervous wreck. I had long talks with him, and he told me about his abusive mother. The abuse was mental and emotional, more than physical. While she may not have been a formal satanist, I could only describe her behavior as satanic. She was about as mean as I can possibly imagine.
