Christian Programming Is Being Blocked From Your TV Lineup

DirecTV recently announced it will drop the Inspiration Network from its lineup, leaving its stable of profane and worldly channels untouched. Incredibly, reports indicate the provider also misrepresented the development by suggesting the network initiated the split.

In reality, it appears the decision was wholly that of the provider. Perhaps the most baffling aspect of the decision lies in the fact that DirecTV did not gain anything – or save any money – by dropping the network.

Unlike the majority of channels carried by the company, the Inspiration Network does not charge a license fee to providers. Many failing networks cost carriers millions per year, however, and still remain prominent options in cable packages across the nation.

For example, DirecTV spends an estimated $25 million annually to carry Islamic news network Al Jazeera. Christian content the company received for free, however, was somehow deemed unacceptable.

It probably had more viewers than a lot of the channels it carries

“DirecTV recently announced it will drop the Inspiration Network”

I’m sure many will be happy to do the same to DirecTV.

We can get EWTN on our Roku box, and EWTN radio on Sirius/XM. I listen to the radio more often than I watch it on TV.

EWTN...no problems, but it’s a premium channel on FIOS (as in you have to buy a more expensive cable package to get it)

Sounds silly. I get lots of inspirational Christian movies on Netflix, believe it or not!

Get a Roku. Lots and lots of religion channels available for free. EWTN included.

I did just that. After three years with DirecTV, I dropped them when they dropped The Inspiration channel. They called several times to try to get me back. My family watches the Inspiration channel the most and will not do without it. I do believe DirecTV dropped it because it promotes Jesus Christ.

Netflix has a very substantial amount of good religious programming. I used to go through the Ignatius Press movie catalog and sigh, thinking I’d buy this or that DVD someday. Now I go through it and request the DVDs from Netflix or pull them up on streaming.

I see religious programming on 363-378 on DirectTV, with one exception, a medical channel.

Well, Jesus won’t be promoting these people on Judgement day...

“I’m sure many will be happy to do the same to DirecTV.”

Or not subscribe at all. Like moi. I was seriously considering the switch to DTV. That is, until a few minutes ago.

And in case some directTV zipperheads happen to be reading this, I will make sure others know about the way you do business.

This channel had gone away from Christian programming. They were showing Waltons, shows like that. My wife watched it a lot. They went away from carrying pastors, Christian shows, months ago.

However, if you go to DirecTV’s website, they say that Insp Channel dropped them. Says they did not drop Insp.

EWTN seems to be OK for now on DirecTV. No announcements on it and other stations save JLTV, which is to “switch signals” on the 26th of this month to HD (won’t be viewable if you don’t receive HD signals apparently).
