Boehner, A Proven Failure at Leadership: With Just 28 GOP Votes, House Agrees to Raise Debt Limit

The House of Representatives, by a narrow margin, on Tuesday passed clean legislation raising the government's borrowing authority for one year in order to avoid a default that was looming at the end of this month.

By a vote of 221-201, the House passed the bill, adhering to President Barack Obama's demand that it have no unrelated conditions attached. With House passage, the bill now goes to the Senate, where debate could begin on Wednesday.

Only 28 of the House's 232 Republicans voted for the measure, leaving Democrats to provide most of the votes for passage.

Republican Speaker John Boehner allowed the vote, ignoring factions of his party that called for tying the measure to defunding of Obamacare and including benefits for military retirees.

Boehner acknowledged before the vote that Democrats would need to back the measure, which would get minimal Republican support.

"We’ll let the Democrats put the votes up," Boehner said, adding that he had spoken to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, who told him there will be enough Democratic support to pass the measure.

Just like they planned to pass amnesty.

Boehner is on the record as saying that he wants to wait until the Primary Season is over before slamming AMNESTY down our throats.

That is why WE need to ramp up pressure to force the House to eject Boehner with Extreme Prejudice.

Boehner is now a wholely owned subsidiary of Nancy Pelosi. His caucus has abandoned him. He can do nothing unless Pelosi ok’s it and delivers her caucus to support him. He is a political corpse that Pelosi props up and animates. He might not even be removable because Pelosi would direct her caucus to support him so that she can continue to act through him.

Haven’t seen yet.

Wish the GOP would now immediately vote for Boehner’s replacement as it would go the same way.

And yet there are Freepers that support the speaker, and whine about conservatives like Cruz.

It's time for a house-cleaning.

Here’s what Sen Ted Cruz had to say about this bill being passed....

“This is a mistake. Not a good sign when the bill that we pass, is the exact same Bill that would pass if we had Speaker Nancy Pelosi. That’s a sign that we’re going down the wrong road. In the Senate, I’ve already indicated my intention to object this Bill coming up - raising the debt ceiling with just the 50 votes threshold - I’m going to insist on a 60 vote threshold...”

Boehner? Didn't he just say, at the Republican retreat, that he wouldn't bring up anything that didn't have the support of his caucus???

Maybe the NSA has something on him too...

Boehner - the GOP non-leader teams up with the oppostion to double team against his own party; he’s not a leader, like Obama he is an incompetent fraud

he loses the debt-ceiling issue NOT because there is NOT sound reasons NOT to raise the debt ceiling, but because he is not competent to make the case against it

Wish the GOP would now immediately vote for Boehners replacement

Could that end up being the constitutional crisis that's long coming? The dems couldn't win Speaker, but they along with a handful of 'pubs could vote for Boehner, keep him as Speaker, and keep conservatives out of power.

I have trouble imagining who the next HOR speaker would be, without a real tough battle among the 'pubs. Do I want that to happen? You betcha'. Let's find out who all the traitors in the HOR are.

It took bonehead and slimy cantor 31 minutes to cave.

This type of incompetence can not be made up, it must come naturally.
