U.S. Sen. John Cornyn is returning to Longview for a fundraiser that aims low at the wallet but high on attendance.
What were trying to do with this event is something I dont think, typically, has been done before, said John Coppedge, a Longview doctor. We wanted to have an event that was fun and afforded the opportunity for a lot more people to participate in the process.
Political fundraisers, particularly for national office candidates, tend to be those $1,000-a-plate soirées that most people just hear about.
Coppedge said the one planned for Feb. 16 is designed to draw as many people as can handle a $25 donation to the states senior senators re-election effort.
No meal is planned, but soda and chips are included in the entry donation, and door prizes will be drawn. A cash beer and wine bar will be set up.

Karl Rove, known in some GOP circles as The Architect for his guidance in the political rise of George W. Bush, will be arriving with the senator.

Longview is Louie Gohmert country.
Folks there prefer Louie’s ideas a lot more than Cornyn’s.
I didn’t realize that RINOs had feathers.
I feel Conservatives are the most politically knowledgeable and ad nauseam commercials by Cornyn is seen as desperation.
I'll bet Cornyn's getting money to run those ads from the left wing of the Uniparty as well.
They have any western diamond-backs in Longview? Heard they like big rodents.
I seem to remember that Louie Gohmert is backing Steve Stockman...
Gohmert is from Tyler, west of Longview. Tommy Merritt, former liberal Republican state House member from Longview, is running for state agriculture commissioner and may or may not be the best known name in that race. People in TX get confused when unknowns run; so they stick with “safe” incumbents.
The Great Cornholio is a joke. Texas, you can do better.
Yassir, we got us another Bush running, for Land Commish.
I am so not proud. I’m voting for the other guy.
Water Moccasins and copperheads. A few eastern rattlers but you have to look hard.
