The IRS scandal is so bad that Democrats are unleashing total war in an attempt to beat back a full airing of the abuse. The old adage, "The best defense is a good offense," is all the more valid when the major media outlets are on their side. It is not necessary to have any actual facts to use as rebuttal for the indefensible; it is enough to simply throw a cloud of dust, so as to discredit any charges - in the eyes of supporters and media sycophants.
President Obama's absurd contention to Bill O'Reilly that there was "not a smidgen" of corruption despite his initial expression of "outrage" over the IRS's behavior is part of this strategy. But another part consists of an attempt to discredit anyone who threatens to come up with genuine investigatory pay dirt. Such a man is Treasury Inspector General Russell George. Josh Hicks of the Washington Post reports:
Two House Democrats on Thursday called for an investigation of a federal auditor who accused the Internal Revenue Service of gross mismanagement and targeting advocacy groups for extra scrutiny based on their names and policy positions.
Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) and Matt Cartwright (D-Penn.) on Wednesday filed a complaint with a special watchdog council questioning the independence of Treasury Department inspector general J. Russell George.
The congressmen, both of whom serve as top Democrats on House oversight committees, said George produced a "fundamentally flawed performance audit" that was "incomplete" and "outright misleading." They also alleged that he held briefings with Republican members of the House Oversight Committee without the knowledge of Democrats on the panel. (snip)

Like a good Gestapo or SS Officer, I’m sure Connelly volunteered for the job as hitman.
As a conservative Jew, I’m personally glad he’s not in the gas or plumbing (showers) business.
The rebuke and determination by Catherine Engelbrecht against Elijah was fantastic, she has stones.
God bless her.
Apparently having had enough, Engelbrecht and her lawyer, Cleta Mitchell, delivered an in-your-face in the form of a formal complaint filed with the Office of Congressional Ethics alleging an abuse of power.
And nothing from Boehner about this. A real leader would have sent a rocket right at the White Hut for the tawdry tactics the Dems are using on the IRS scandal. I am beyond disgusted with his lack of action on this right now.
I imagine he and the rest of the GOPe are too concerned with covering their own azzes as targets of the IRS-and have more to cover than the average citizen-to bother with worrying about fighting for us mere peons. If they even cared in the first place, which is also questionable.
I think this time around might be different, and with good kill #s, since zero has flushed them all out of the woodwork and given them jobs.
RATS know full well they deserve all they’re about to get.
That Connelly is some dirtbag. He’s the one with the big mouth at the hearing the other day.
These people truly believe government can do no wrong.
If all else fails, kill the messenger.
If a Republican like Cruz ran on that, and meant it, and hammered it, he might have himself a 50-state sweep.
Institutionalized Thugs.
This is how to start a revolution, when the same rules no longer apply equally to all. The Dems use the power of government, ie, the IRS, to elevate friends and punish enemies. If they believe they are right to abusively use the IRS like this, God have Mercy!!
No, we must absolutely abolish the IRS, ABSOLUTELY!!
He looks batshit crazy.
A real Washingtonian who will do or say anything to protect his fiefdom.
Throw enough stuff at the wall, some of it is BOUND to stick. Even Teflon has a point at which something, which is applied with enough force and in large enough volume, slides off only very slowly.
Let the Scheiss-sturm-blitz begin.
Great job by Jim Jordan, he made Connolly look the biased fool that he is.
“Someday, OUR SIDE is going to have control of the IRS. We must never forget this. What goes around...”
Those that are really on “our side” would do whatever they could to weaken and abolish the IRS.
Our side’s ‘live and let live’ approach fails against the left’s ‘live and HELP die’ mantra.
Once we beat them down for good, we need to chronicle their offenses and outrages against our Republic.
The Walker/Wisconsin story is our springboard: Conservatism works Every Time It’s Tried, helping democrats succeed, as well, not just conservatives.
After hearing some samples of his pit-bull, off-the-mark speech at the most recent oversight hearings (IRS), I can only count the man as a domestic enemy of the United States.
Dont know who Cartwright is, but Rep. Gerald Connelly (D-VA). is the closest living thing to an SS Officer.
___
His grilling of Catherine Engelbrecht on Thursday during a hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs was outright disgusting. Connolly is a disgusting POS.
Yeah, but “our side” doesn’t see gov’t as a political weapon.
And “our side” isn’t out to ELIMINATE all opposition.
