Two Democrats call for investigation of IRS watchdog who led targeting probe

The IRS scandal is so bad that Democrats are unleashing total war in an attempt to beat back a full airing of the abuse. The old adage, "The best defense is a good offense," is all the more valid when the major media outlets are on their side. It is not necessary to have any actual facts to use as rebuttal for the indefensible; it is enough to simply throw a cloud of dust, so as to discredit any charges - in the eyes of supporters and media sycophants.

President Obama's absurd contention to Bill O'Reilly that there was "not a smidgen" of corruption despite his initial expression of "outrage" over the IRS's behavior is part of this strategy. But another part consists of an attempt to discredit anyone who threatens to come up with genuine investigatory pay dirt. Such a man is Treasury Inspector General Russell George. Josh Hicks of the Washington Post reports:

Two House Democrats on Thursday called for an investigation of a federal auditor who accused the Internal Revenue Service of gross mismanagement and targeting advocacy groups for extra scrutiny based on their names and policy positions.

Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) and Matt Cartwright (D-Penn.) on Wednesday filed a complaint with a special watchdog council questioning the independence of Treasury Department inspector general J. Russell George.

The congressmen, both of whom serve as top Democrats on House oversight committees, said George produced a "fundamentally flawed performance audit" that was "incomplete" and "outright misleading." They also alleged that he held briefings with Republican members of the House Oversight Committee without the knowledge of Democrats on the panel. (snip)

Obama and his lapdogs have a habit of going after Inspectors Generals.

They also go after Republicans for trifling offenses.

Someday, OUR SIDE is going to have control of the IRS. We must never forget this. What goes around...

questioning the independence of Treasury Department inspector general J. Russell George.

But appointing an investigator who gave 6000.00 to zero is A-OK.

This is how RATS’ minds work.

I’ve said it over and over again. Liberals, when they must defend the indefensible, ALWAYS attack those who attack the indefensible.

I agree.

We live in a world war of propaganda.

A world in which the primary objective is to control the narrative.

Good point...I’d bet if there is an honest investigation of this IG there’ll be nothing found pointing to bias on his part.

Don’t know who Cartwright is, but Rep. Gerald Connelly (D-VA). is the closest living thing to an SS Officer. The man is a psychopathic fascist and was even when he was on the Fairfax County Council and then the head of it.

The Mafia is jealous of him, that’s how bad he is.

If he ever wants to “reach across the aisle” to the opposition, it is to strangle them.

In the scheme of things, he ranks with right up there in the top 5-10 of the crazy SOB Democrats in the House - Wasserman-Schulz; Sheila Lee Jackson; commie Jan Schakowsky; commie Barbara Lee; Cummings, the Demos coverup man in the House; Rangel the rich red; Conyers the top Communist in Congress for nearly 50 years; Alan Grayson, who makes Charlie Manson sound sane, etc.

Singing, “Oh what a lovely bunch of coconuts” we have.

And we are paying their salaries! Now that is the ultimate insult.

Digusting. Dems on offense while the GOP sits on their hands.

Boehner, Camp and Issa have been disgraceful on this issue. It makes me think they really don’t care we were assaulted by the IRS. I wonder how they would feel if their kids got this type of treatment from the IRS?

Democrats response to this?

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2014/02/engelbrecht_unloads_on_the_honorable_elijah_cummings.html

“The Democratic talking point was faux outrage at payback to the honorable Elijah Cummings, ranking member, delivered by Catherine Engelbrecht of True the Vote. It seems that Cummings sent her three missives on committee letterhead that Engelbrecht correctly interpreted as intimidation. How else was she to interpret them, coming as they did on the heels of years of abuse by government agencies, and raising the specter of a congressional investigation into alleged voter suppression, a code name for racism?

Apparently having had enough, Engelbrecht and her lawyer, Cleta Mitchell, delivered an in-your-face in the form of a formal complaint filed with the Office of Congressional Ethics alleging an abuse of power.”

They don’t even have to find anything wrong in the end, it will serve their purpose to just blow smoke and drag out the actual investigation of the IRS long enough.

Thanks, that’s undoubtedly why Obama/Holder picked Connelly for this.

"Our" side never uses it.

You can count on less than one finger the number of career bureaucrats any Republican administration has summarily dismissed.

One of my constant complaints over the past 40 years.

Leftist Dems are Rats. Nothing new there.

The real ultimate insult is supporting “Republicans” who do nothing about our constitutional rights being violated.

I expect this stuff from power mad and rampaging Dems. I expect better from the GOP.

Like a good Gestapo or SS Officer, I’m sure Connelly volunteered for the job as hitman.

As a conservative Jew, I’m personally glad he’s not in the gas or plumbing (showers) business.
